Hello,
Need your suggestions and inputs.
Do let me know whether evaluation installation copy can be used in production environment with our own sql...
Thanks,
Tahseen
Yes. This is a very common configuration for evaluating SolarWinds products. When running the installer you will want to select the "Advanced" option if you plan to utilize your own instance of Microsoft SQL. Otherwise if the the quick evaluation option in the installer is chosen it will utilize a local installation of SQL Express instead.
Thanks for the info... Is it OK to install this evaluation copy in live server environment and check it...
Indeed it is. While best practices dictate that you should evaluate software in a lab or staging environment, not all organizations have the luxury of having either. For that reason it is very common that most customer evaluate the software in a production environment.
Thanks for the info...
I've installed this tool in our PC and tried monitoring a server by selecting "specific nodes" and added that server ip address but no result, do i need to follow some steps here?
Can you please verify the name of the product you have installed, as well as the version?
Hi,
I've installed Server and Application Monitoring Tool 6.2.2.
I would recommend starting here -> Adding Nodes Manually - YouTubehttp://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/en/flarehelp/SAM/QS/content/onboarding.htm
Once installed you'll be taken to the Orion web interface where you'll need to login for the first time. The default username is "admin" with no password. Once logged in you should be walked through your first discovery. If you prefer to add nodes individually you can follow the instructions outlined in the video linked above.
