I am unable to view this blog post.

Thanks Stuart. As my daughters are fond of saying "Epic Fail Dad" Ha...

We also use a combination of both. My personal preference is application.

It would be nice to win a prize. Also looking forward to many points added to my account (Baby needs a new Back Pack!)

I like the Fire Fighter reference. Here we refer to ourselves as Smoke Jumpers since we are constantly moving from one hot spot to another.

We typically use webex and/or conference call with Vendor support and have the vendor walk us thru troubleshooting.

Interesting What-If Scenario and tools to assist with predicting the out come.

Not being a Storage or VM geek. These topics are extremely useful in expanding my knowledge of technologies.

I am not usually involved in these meetings but I am asked to supply data. One thing I always find entertaining is that during 35-40% of these outages the Operations Group (NOC) will receive a Group Jabber from a member of the Engineering Team with One or Two words "Ooops", "My Bad" or "D@mn It". My personal favorite…

Much as in real life planning for fire season can not control or contain all of possibilities of failure.

We use SharePoint to document and distribute troubleshooting procedure and resolutions. We also use dedicated SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) who are responsible to keeping up to date in their individual fields and then providing individual/group training to the team. Certifications are certainly encouraged but not required.

Interesting Concept.

It is not my full time job but I am the SolarWinds Admin for my company and also for a few of our clients that use the Solarwinds suite to monitor items in their networks. Between my Solarwinds duties I manage and maintain network infrastructure, answer phone calls to the NOC from our customer base and troubleshoot…

I am beginning to learn VoIP and use VNQM in my studies.

We use several tools to monitor different aspects of our networks. We currently use Solarwinds, NetMRI, PacketDesign & Splunk to monitor networks, routing & security. SatMonics and SIMs to monitor our RF networks.

Noticed that the 150 pts are not being added to my account as the questions are being answered correctly. Will the addition of pts. be a manual process as it was with the April 2014 mission?

Missed one question so I'm out of the running for the tickets. I am awaiting the points! and hopefully some new items in the store!!!

I am reading these articles and then speaking with my virtualization crew here and learning more every day. Thanks!

We currently use an in house proprietary solution.

We have one security person at our company. He is highly motivated and enjoys the game of keeping evil from entering into our network. We consider ourselves lucky to have this person here.

VPN, Cirix, wireless air card & using smart phones as hot spots for us.

We use nested maps with locations as the first view and each click on equipment takes you into a more detailed view. Take a few amount of up keep but it is what works best for us.

1. MS SQL Server. 2. The DBA is a member of our IT Dept. 3. IT Dept has applications is place (not sure what). 4. IT Dept determines this.

I'd be glad to help you out with this project!

I always learn new and interesting information when I log into Thwack

It would seem that one tool that will be required will integrate monitoring capable of bridging the gap between IT Infrastructure and the physical facility systems (Environmental control) to manage the increased demand for cooling.

How long must this feature be on the "List of Things to Enhance" before it transitions on to the "List of Things You have Enhanced"? Seems like 4 years is a long time wait for a feature.

I am also running NPM 10.1 and have an interface with "operational status" of Testing. The router reflect this interface as Up/Up. I understand that Solar Winds answer is that "We do not actively use dormant or testing for NPM" but for some reason this is the status that Solar Winds reflects for this interface. Yes I have…

Standalone labels are jumping around on their own when adding new objects to the map.

This resolution will not work with NPM 10.4 which uses Dynamic Charts. Is there a updated resolution for NPM 10.4?
