  • Can someone from SW please move this post to the "Orion NPM Feature Requests" forum?
  • I am also running NTA 3 and am getting the same error. The entire error reads "Stacked Chart Error: There must be at least one row and one numeric column, and data should be all positive or negative." I have seen this error specifically when selecting a protocol or application and then selecting a Named Time Period that is…
  • Like many NetFlow (NF) users, I have been dreaming of a day when NF functions properly and efficiently. Seems 3.1 may have solved this, at least so far. I am hesitant in making that statement however, from past experience. I would just like to add on to this comment and say that I upgraded yesterday and the speed…

Format of a menu item is fairly clear to understand... I use putty for…
  • Currently, no. Please see my UnDP Wishlist here:
  •  I agree that trending graphs would be very useful.
  • How about the UnDP with Orion NPM? Almost everything about it screams for UI improvements. From creating the pollers to viewing them on the website. See my previous post for some specific enhancements: Thanks, SamuelB
  • @AaronK I also have this same problem. I cannot call either number. I get a fast busy and it is very annoying. I have mentioned it to Solarwinds a couple of times both over the phone and via email. I can call other 866-530-xxxx numbers, just not Solarwinds. I believe this is a problem with their PBX that needs to be…
  • If you have the Application Performance Monitor module, you can monitor the SNMP process and alert if it isn't up (or doesn't come back up). I am assuming you don't have this module though. When the node comes back up and SNMP isn't working, are there any monitored items that are in the "unknown" state? If so, you could…
  • My Orion/Netflow configuration utilizes a SQL cluster that is using SAN attached storage and it works great. The decision was made to use a physical server for the Orion server so I can't speak to your question about VMware other than to say that since most of the disk (I/O) load is on the SQL server, using a VM for the…
  • Is it possible to get a report of traffic between 2 specific interfaces? And what type of interfaces? Are these router interfaces or server interfaces? What information do you want in the report? More info is needed to answer that question.
  •  I would also like to do this. If this is not easily possible in 8.5.1 (I don't think it is), please consider it a feature request.
  • lchance, Have you seen the following link: www.solarwinds.com/.../Implementing_SNMPv3r1.pdf This link specifically covers implementing SNMP v3 with Solarwinds products.
  • Is it just me or has anyone else noticed quite a few posts recently that are similar to this? I would really like this functionality as well. This would be solved by the ability to "group nodes" or basically the ability to create a hierarchy for nodes that the advanced alert engine could use.
  • Wow. This bug definitely affected me. I started deleting all associations of programs to nodes and the problem went away. I would definitely like this fix once it comes out as I cannot use APM in the mean time.
  • Yes, I would definitely like to see this feature as well.
  • Can you ping the blade servers from the Orion server and vice versa? Have you tried stopping the Windows Firewall/ICS service to verify the firewall isn't on?
  • tglass, I have a similar setup to yours and I have experienced the same problem. On random days, the Cirrus Reports just don't appear in the list. I can't find a pattern to them disappearing and I can't seem to figure out why. Today they will be gone and tomorrow they will be back. I haven't had a chance to open a ticket…
  •  How are your web servers being load balanced (round robin, MS NLB, Hardware load balancer)? This may be a clue into why this isn't working.
  • Anyone with active maintenance can download the "Windows Event Log Forwarder" from the customer portal. Install this on the server you want to capture the event logs from and it will send it to the Orion server as syslogs.

  • Ryan, That filter worked fine. I had tried everything except for the word "IS". Thank you for your help. Thanks, SamuelB
  • I think I have spoken with Solarwinds staff about this too. Being able to stick multiple items on a graph would be good not only for the UnDP but also for interfaces, nodes, etc.
  •  Surely there is a way to state that good means "up" and "no data" means down? Sadly, there is currently no way to do this.
  • In the Alert Actions for the rules where you filter out the messages, have you added the action to "Stop Processing Syslog Rules"? This may fix your problem.
  • Yes, some kind of upcoming feature list and/or roadmap with planned features (and possibly release dates) would be nice.
  • Something that would work around this limitation that I would like to see is the ability to selectively change the scale of the graph and/or to auto-scale graphs.
  • This is not a problem for me. I can print the charts without a problem. I just double checked for you.
  • This has already been reported. See this post:
  • Is something wrong in the way netflow is set up on the router? How is your router interface configured? Can you post the relevant netflow config for that interface? Also, what make/model of router and what software version?
  •  Yes, see the following post:
