Hi Ciag, good to hear the solution works for part of your problem. As for the other part: you do not want your tech's to react on certain events so you have 2options: 1.) teach them what to react on and what not (which you dont want to) 2.) create that custom view we talked about, there you can filter for "Alert Triggered"…

Hi Denny, in the nagios scripts, the status changes based on received traps, I dont think this is possible to convert to an APM script, is it?
-
are you sure you are only polling one profile from this one box? because we had this issue occur more often when we polled more than one mailbox
-
we only alert on our cisco boxes and even have those problems there...
-
Actually, I do have every single interface monitored... we do it to see errors on user ports as well... havent been able to see any users connected though... I tried again with Orion 10.0 SP1 but ever since I installed SP1, I got more problems than before... Just noticed that I cant even seem to be able to run that report…

Hi, I am trying to use the script you created, I found two errors though. First is "strService = WScript.Arguments.Item(0)" there should be a 1 in the brackets. second problem I havent found a solution for is that .StartService() only starts a service, it does not restart it :( Is there something like a .RestartService()…

Yea but I think it is flipped nonetheless, isnt it andy?

oh, I didnt know that it includes the node name as well... I guess I can use the exact example you posted then! Oh, actually that would work for our backup, we were already thinking of making an exception for more servers though... but i guess i can at least use this for the backup servers in our main location. But I would…

thats what I was told on the phone by SW-support as well, we prefer not to do it that way though as it is not as flexible. Everytime a server gets moved, the engineer on site will change the descriptions of the ports on the cisco switches, therefore no changes at all are required for monitoring if a server changes the…

Hi Brandon, thanks for your offer but we would not be able to re-introduce kiwi syslog :-\ I see that you are constantly adding features to increase stock values but would appreciate for existing features to be fixed first, some are just annoying, now while we are finally able to work with Orion, I still consider it to be…

well, you basically need to replace all { and } with a @ INSIDE a sql select... therefore it would look like this: Alert: ${FullName} is ${SQL:Select Round ('$@VolumePercentUsed@',0) from Volumes WHERE VolumeID='$@VolumeID@'} Percent Utilized

hehe, exactly as usual... ;-) 10.2 is already in beta3 though so it should be out soon
-
but it falls back to 32bit or it just stops polling without notification if it does not support 64bit? the case that almost every device has at least one gigabit connection and/or more than 4gb of ram is true for us as well...

if you find a way to pull the info via wmi (e.g. performance counter) or snmp you could but as far as i know you cannot grab this with either snmp or wmi which pretty much means no, not without a script...
-
actually I took a look at discussion I posted and the verified answer from ebradford still confuses me but the post right after from Andy (mcbridea) which shows the exact SQL makes more sense to me... according to the Andy's post (showing the SQL output), the NOT ALL condition would be correct for you... that explains…

thanks, i guess its more or less the same level of complication... :P I think we need something more sophisticated. If we decide to keep going with Solarwinds, I will look for a solution with text-message alerting from a remote location without having to login to another machine and therefore present plaintext credentials

Hey Craig, just trying to help here...:-P here is the more complex regex for you (you just messed up with the brackets/grouping): --- ^(?:ssh )(?:(?:(?:(?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)\.){3}(?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?))…

usually the status warning in NPM (not APM) means that there is packet loss to that node, the node is not down but not all packets are received. i havent heard of any other cause fo a node to turn into warning in NPM (its different in APM)

we are thinking of buying a USB to IP device, I could then install the GSM modem which is located in a different city but still have it virtually connected via USB. lets see if we will buy that and if, how well that works.
-
if you know how to do this from the solarwinds box, please post it :) only way I know would be to rewrite this in vbscript
-
is this a report? could you share the pollers and the actual report?
-
would be a nice feature to restart a specific service by name though... i mean the rest, windows can do itself... but for example, I the webserver in my lan is up but i cannot open the website from my internal lan, first try would be to reset IIS or whatever webserver it is running, even if the service itself is still…
-
hrmpf :-\ why cant there just be a directory existence monitor? :P i couldnt find anything like that shared already in thwack either :( is there something similar i can use as a base where only minor adjustments need to be made? :P
-
you can only monitor/alert on the routers delay, not the interfaces... if you added the interfaces, interface errors/drops etc. are already all monitored... its just a matter of creating an alert for errors/drops... if the interface itself never goes down, you will have to monitor something that will go down... there…
-
it looks like I would have to install that Sapien plugin on every server I want to execute a powershell script on? Microsoft VBScript runtime error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'SAPIEN.ActiveXPosh that i know i wouldnt be able to do... APM doesnt support powershell itself, does it? is there any apm monitor which…
-
mhhh, possible solution.. I'll think about it and try to find another solution in the meantime... maybe there is a solution we can buy :P
-
nope, no RCs for us. We will have to wait for v10 to be released
-
is it possible to run the beta alongside our production environment? meaning can I install it on a separate box for a trial of 30days? if so, id be interested in all the betas :P
-
yea... its a shame... I dont even know if Notepager would run on a 64bit Server 2008. I wish sms functionality was included in Orion... we are looking at solutions, hardware and software which are over a grand... A good solution I think would be if we would find something like an email gateway within our LAN that converts…

i know ;) worth a try tho :P I'll estimate it myself to ~4months until beta is over
