  • I just did a Google search for - CPU Power Management timing issues and came up with this article as the first hit (are you feeling lucky): support.microsoft.com/.../896256
  • Doing some more investigation, it seem some of the Eng Toolset (MIB Viewer - V9.2) as well as Orion do not understand the Avaya System MIB. Using the MIB Viewer if get a "unsupported OID" when trying to view the System MIB - 1.3.6.1.2.1.1 So Orion V9 can connect with SNMP, but V8.1 cannot, as well as many of the MIB tools…
  • It seems something has changed on my APM and VoIP charts, as I don't recall seeing this before. I clicked the edit button and changed the default time from Today, to the 'Last 24 hours'. Now when I click and open the chart and then select the drop down menu, I see this: Can someone confirm these are the default options for…
  • What would work is for a SQL query to populate a custom property called Parent Node Status. Then if node x has a custom property Parent Node Status = Not Up, then the alert can be suppressed. I hope I am missing something and that there is a simpler way. It would be easier just to pass the whole alert to a piece of custom…
  • Hi Andy, I was just reviewing this post when I recalled another way of monitoring the QOS queues on routers and switches. There is a Cisco command which is applied either globally or to an interface that will export statistics for QoS queues: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/qos/command/reference/qos_m2.html#wp1015073 I…
  • I'm also still waiting for this functionality.
  • Sounds like a bug. I'll have a go at this on my NPM9.1 installation and open a ticket if the URL is not linked correctly.
  • Please add my voice to this request. We are a huge Avaya shop with multiple call centers world-wide. G450, S8700, AES servers, etc.
  • One other major difference is the Status and statistics polling intervals. I poll for Node status every 300 seconds & CPU, Memory and Volume statistics every 300 seonds. However, the one that really adds load to the DB is the interface statistics. I poll critical nodes more often, but they are only about 10% of the total…
  • We opened a ticket with Cisco TAC, since one of my 4507Rs has been running at 60% for the past 8 months (thanks for bring this to my attention) & here is their reply:quote: I am wondering if you got my previous email on when I mentioned that you are hitting an IOS bug and that as fix you would need to upgrade to at least…
  • Is this fixed in SP1? Our Orion takes a good 5 minutes to stop the service. In Task Manager, I watch memory usage slowly tick down from about 218M avg to around 170+/-M and finally, poof, it's gone. This is a longstanding quirk of with the way the NetPerfMonService handles shutdown. We didn't touch that in SP1. Tim, I'm…
  • Sorry Larry, I assumed you were aware of the Web URL field in the Field Formatting tab. I'm not sure what text you edited or where, but here is where you do it through the Report Writer gui: Just prepend the default Web URL with "http://<Orionserver>" and the fields in the reports become hotlinks in e-mail reports…
  • Those are my thoughts exactly Bryan. 36ms is not excessive for something like this, especially across an OC12 link. I put a sniffer on my remote poller & it is not sending out the SNMP gets at the configured intervals. I see SNMP data being collected for each node at random intervals, which is what's causing the gaps in…
  • Looking at your Polling status, it's apparent your DB server is not up to the task. You polling completion should be above 99% Your Last Database Sync should be almost real time - usually within 10 seconds. Once again, your DB server is THE KEY here. I'm running a Raid 0 local SCSI 3 disk array with 14GB of RAM on an…
  • Now that VoIP monitor has been superceded by IPSLA monitor, is it now possible to get the call path data in both directions from only the shadow router? (I have not yet upgraded my VoIP Monitor)
  • I believe my problems may have alsp been related to this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143215(SQL.90).aspx Looking at the Counter keys, Solarwinds VoIP Monitor (IPSLA) incremented the \009 counters above the: "Last Counter"=dword:00000ed4 (5276) "LastHelp"=dword:00000ed5 (5277) This was preventing me from…
  • What are you running for SQL? If your database is large (10GB or larger) you should read the following link Thanks for the link John - great resource for SQL 2005 info. I'm just in the process of ordering a separate SQL DB server & was only going to get 4GB of Memory - I think now I'll order 16GB instead, as I will be also…
  •  Currently no. I found that image off of an old sales document. There were no instructions with it- just the prices for the Hot-Stanby.I'll check around and see if I can locate this or try to find an answer for you. Yes, that was the document I found on the old SW website late last year.
  • Thx for the quick response Andy. I'm actually just trying to get basic SNMP connectivity working. I've polled the Avaya with different SNMP clients (Toolset, Orion & SNMPing) with no response from the Avaya. I'm using Netflow on the router in front of the Avaya (instead of a sniffer) just to verify if the Avaya is sending…
  • I too am about to upgrade my Orion server to a 64bit OS & a separate 64bit MS SQL2005 DB server. I will also be running a new - second polling engine (actually my old Orion server minus the DB & Webserver), but this is a 32bit server. Will this be compatible, or will I need to upgrade my second polling engine to 64bit as…
  • Here is what I have when I browse to this file name. Most likely a file from way back that never got ported to the latest version. (Perhaps they were cleaning up the typo by just deleting the file?)
  • I understand your dilemma. I could be wrong, but I think conditional alerting is not possible. You need a specific device or custom property to monitor in the DB to create and alert. You are stuck with creating a separate alert for each site, since you need suppression set up for devices within each site.
  • This was just an example to get you started in the right direction, you will have to configure the logic yourself. It's not that difficult, especially if you draw a picture of your network (which you should have already in Mapmaker). Example: Starting from your Orion server - the default gateway of your Orion server could…
  • Here's a couple of other threads on this. (I never did find out what the polling completion rate really means): ?PageIndex=2 I ended up moving my remote poller to the same Data Center as the DB server to resolve my issues.
  • This is actually not an AMD specific issue. It occurs with any Dual Core CPU with power management enabled. What happens is the each Core CPU speed (frequency) is throttled down when full computing power is not required and the clocks in each core get out of sync, causing problems with applications which rely on the clock…
  • +1 for me as well.
  • Sometimes this service crashes & can be down for hours, days or weeks, until someone notices the alerts are broken. I installed Snare on my Orion server, which Syslogs to my Kiwi server when any Solarwinds service crashes. Kiwi then sends me an e-mail. Have a look in the Free Tools tab for the link to the Snare software.
  • Features and functionality which have been available for years should not just be arbitrarily changed or dropped.Dropped? I thought you'd been customizing it for the last 4 years. Was it dropped four years ago? Or what am I not understanding? Dropped is very different from "haven't implemented yet". I am referring to the 7…
  • Steve, Looks like I may have found a way to do this. Create a second identical poller, but instead of using Rate use the Counter as the MIB Value Type. Your temperature baseline shows as 0° C & any rise or fall in temperature shows up as a positive or negative value. You should be able to create an alert based on that. I…
  • Sorry Mars, I really haven't had the time or inclination to look into this any further. This is running on a system which is not heavily used, so fixing this is not a priority (although it would be nice to get some wireless stats). I figure that's what I'm paying maintenance for ;-)
