  • Not only that, but since V10.7, Excel is no longer able to query the data from the report. What I mean by this is in previous versions of NPM (Report Writer) I could right click on any report opened in IE and select "Export to Microsoft Excel". That functionality is now gone - update software and remove functionality that…
  • - I would like to see this added as a resource, giving the Orion admin the option of adding this to specific node details pages. - Groups would be a nice addition if possible - I have no specific ideas on how to format this, other than links to the maps. Adding the option of a tree view may be valuable if the node is…
  • I've reviewed most of this long a$$ thread, but in case I missed it, I will add my 2 cents: Very few products on the market have a true "Admin" role. What I mean by this is there is no separation between user management and tool management. The admin role implies the administration of users and RBACs of the product and NOT…
  • It seems the last oject added will cover existing objects on the map. I currently add background objects first and then Node status LED on top.
  • The above is for Report Writer reports. For Charts, you can specify a single time range to display, but not a repeating time range. So a daily chart showing stats from 6AM to 6PM can be mailed out using the Report Scheduler, but a weekly chart with only those hours each day is not possible.
  • In addition to this excellent idea, I'd like to be able to chose which reports are displayed based on a custom property or machine type. We have many different configs for different device types (Firewalls, VPNs, Routers, Switches etc.), regions, network DMZ's etc.
  • Thanks Stevphen, this is very timely information. I'm just installing Orion SL2000 on SQL Express 2005 & this is exactly what happened to me. Adding the \SQLExpress was just what the doctor ordered.
  • If you are using IE, you can right click on the table and select "Export to Microsoft Excel (assuming you have MS Office installed on your PC).
  • Also SQL performance is much improved if you can run the whole DB in Memory. I'm running mine with 8 Gb of RAM on an AMD x64 box, but have just ordered an additional 6 Gb as the memory utilization is currently at 90% and I have not yet setup very much syslogging to my Orion server. Also Netflow is extremely DB intensive.…
  • Here's an example of HTML code I use to display multiple charts on one page:<br> <img src="/NetPerfMon/Chart.asp?Chart=MMAvgUtil&NetObject=I:5309&Period=Last%2012%20Months&SampleSize=1D&Title=Call+Center+Link+%231&SubTitle=Backbone+link+to+AB+%26+ON&ReBuild=TRUE&FontSize=Medium&Width=480&Height=400"> <br> <img…
  • As for searching for the MAC address. You can do that today by adding the Search for Interfaces resource on your summary page. This is like search for Nodes but pulls from the Interfaces table which contains the MAC address of all monitored interfaces. Hope this helps. Hi Stephen, I think you mis-understood the request. I…
  • I just opened a ticket for this: Case # 118327 Created: Wireless device was not found in database! Running 9.5 SP4
  • Hi Karlo, No, they did not re-appear, even after selecting Actions > Rediscover and then after 10 minutes selecting "Poll now" against all 7 WLC's. See my posts here.
  • If you have 2 radios in each AP, then each radio will show up as a separate AP. Looking at your screen shots, I see some high numbered channels which are used with 802.11A radios. BTW, I just installed SP2 for V9.5 and my controllers have again dissappeared from the Wireless Summary View. Looking at TaskManager on the…
  • In most circumstances a SAN will have much better performance than locally attached disk, since it is normally distributed across many spindles (if it is configured correctly). However there may be contention for these spindles if there are other DBs or heavy IO apps running on the same disks. I purchased and configured my…
  •  I think you've missed the point: BUT, if he just pastes the URL for lets say, Events.asp page or any other page, to which he shouldn't have access to as per our account/view limitations, he is able to open that page and consequently, he can view the events related to that particular node. The account limitations do work…
  •  I've not used Microsoft Sharepoint, so forgive me if this is a duplicate request. I want a simple Chat application built into the Orion web page. It will show you who is logged in & allow you to open a chat with a single or multiple users. I've been googling for freeware that does this, but so far have not found anything…
  • There is a Resource that you can use to display this on any web page. It's listed as Poller Status under Miscellaneous
  • Actually that's the way it reports on the server as well when I open a command prompt: Microsoft Windows [Version 5.2.3790] (C) Copyright 1985-2003 Microsoft Corp. C:\WINDOWS> I believe this is Windows Server 2003 R2.
  • See the screenshots I posted on page one of this thread. The nodes in the suppression tab (yes there can be multiple nodes) don't have to have any relation to the nodes in the alert trigger.
  • I've had a Support ticket (#21714) open since Oct. 23rd for this issue. No one in support - tier 1 or 3 could tell me about this fix (which I just applied BTW & fixed my problem). Instead they suggested running a repair on my installation (all my customizations would have to be re-installed). They also suggested…
  • Wow Vic, you have been a real busy beaver - nice work! It's because of things like this that I'm staying with 8.1 - too much work and hassle to fix all the things that get broken in 8.5.1
  • I have my DB server using a Raid 0, 3 disk array, which gives maximum disk IO with no redundancy. As I am willing to lose up to 24 hours of data, redundancy is not an issue (DB is backed up every night). The Web site runs fine, as the whole DB fits into the 7Gb memory alloted for the DB. As for gaps, I've finally…
  • I can't set a dynamic value telling me the status of node y - unless I write a SQL query and have it fire every minute or so. Is that what is meant? Not true as per the NPM administrators guide: Setting a Suppression for an Advanced Alert You can set the specific conditions for suppressing an advanced alert using the…
  •  I believe this is not a function of the Bios, rather it is a software function which monitors the load on the CPU and scales back the frequency of each core if full power is not required. Have you looked at the HP management utilities? It's most likely setup in the HP System Management Utility: 127.0.0.1:2381/cpqlogin.htm
  • I suggest you run the following search in this forum for additional info; http://thwack.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=last+AND+database+AND+sync&o=Relevance I've discussed this issue some time ago in this forum. As for what the polling completion percentage means, check the following link:…
  •  ding, ding, ding, ding..... congratulations, you have found the "leading space" bug. All fields edited from the Web interface are pre-pended with a space. Currently there is no way to clear this space. The leading space is considered a separate character. Note, this can cause problems for any custom views, alerts or…
  • I'm using another vendors Netflow product, so I'm not really familiar with NTA. Just an idea though, if you monitor the WAN interfaces on both ends of the link, can you create a report based on that? That would give you the full bi-directional data on the WAN only. (The product I use allows me to select multiple interfaces…
  • I had a look at some reports and recalled the issues I ran into trying to use the RAS router syslogs for this. What I finally ended up doing was creating an alert for all remote routers based on the transmit utilization of the async interface. When the interface utilization exceeds 100bps, an alert is set (and logged in…
  • Try using the following syntax in the custom resource: 'View Traffic by top applications for <%=Node.GetProperty("IP_Address")%>' This works for me in V8.1
