Does this work? npmv7.solarwinds.net/Login.asp

Look in your install directory for a file named 'SWNetPerfMon.DB'. Make a backup of this file. Now open the original file and look for these lines: quote: ! Connection timeout in seconds Timeout=20 ! ! Database Command timeout in seconds CommandTimeout=90 I believe the line you'll want to change is the 20 but if that…

You should be able to change it. You'll have to alter some code and if you create a custom page you can use ASP to call ping and telnet --- in theory.

Thanks Isaac. I talked to support last week about my problem and they had me restart the service but it happened again yesterday so I just upgraded to 7.8. Hopefully this fixed the problem.

How is everyone trying to get to the Solarwinds server; via IP address or name? If they are trying to get to it by name can they ping it fine? Have they tried getting to it via the IP address?

Any news on saving the results of a scheduled job to a text file?
-
I was referring to saving to a file from a scheduled job. Thanks
-
Don, any clue if my suggestion about saving the results of a show command or an upload config snippet to a text file (like you can do in Kiwi's Cattools 2)?
-
I see there are some formatting differences between the two: Config Snippets --> Upload to Devices... Right-Click node --> Show --> I've created a new Config Snippet "sh bridge address-table" and I've created an Add/Edit Show Command "sh bridge address-table". Using the Show menu the format is fine but when I use the…

Another feature I would love to have is when scheduling a job and choosing "Execute Command Script on Devices" the ability to save the output to a text file and to a specific location. I would also love to see a "Run Code Snippets" by right-clicking a node; such as the Show menu in the picture and have the ability to move…

Thanks Don...and I just wanted to say that this is one amazing tool. Keep up the good work!

I think you got my AYE but here it is again.

I agree with you Steve. I call support when I have a pressing issue but I would also like some feedback from other users and having this forum moderated slows that process down.

I'll help answer #2 on your list. When configuring alerts look at the 'Alert Suppression' tab. Example: We have a router with a layer 3 switch connected to it. We then have 20 switches connected to that layer 3 switch. I've set up an alert suppression to not fire off the alerts of the 20 switches if the router goes down.

Well after much trial and error I've come to the conclusion that you can not use animated gifs as the background to a map. Could someone confirm this for me? Thanks
-
I believe 5.0.9 is the version you'll have to run. www4.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp
-
What version of the snmp daemon are you running on OSX?

http://www4.solarwinds.net/SolarWindsForum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2026&SearchTerms=map,maker,label Another possibility... http://www4.solarwinds.net/SolarWindsForum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2061 Check near the bottom of the page for the mouse-over example.

Sounds good to me. Any chance of replacing the graphs with flash as well?

I agree with the recommendations navy1942 made. SIP-Compliant.....yes. We're currently using Cisco Call Manager with Cisco 7960's, 7940's, and 7912's. We are also running a few Trixboxes. (http://www.trixbox.org/index.php)

My guess is that they'll combine ipMonitor with the Application Monitoring addon for Orion; of course this will be a separate fee as it is now.
-
Check your event logs. Do you see any errors or warning related to the services that didn't start?
-
This might help you.
-
Have you tried reinstalling? I had an issue with the GUI once during beta testing and a reinstall/repair install fixed it.
-
I think we ran into the 2GB limit a while back and it no longer updated the database...but I can't remember for sure. We ended up upgrading to a full version of SQL.
-
What SP are the 2000 boxes running? I know there was a bug in 2000 SNMP pre SP3 I believe.
-
Have you tried running it from the console instead of RDC? I'm just curious as some apps have problems running in RDC.
-
You can compile mibs using this http://search.cpan.org/~ftassin/SNMP-MIB-Compiler-0.06/lib/SNMP/MIB/Compiler.pm but I don't think it'll help you with SolarWind's products.

Adding Nodes via Orion System Manager is easy. Sure, you can only access via the server it is installed on but it is easy. I'm sure you could easily write an app that can add Nodes to the database that will run from any client PC that has the username/password to the database.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an module for this in the works for Orion.
