Its probably the application itself that has started a new process. do you need to simply know if the process is running or not, or need to track any of the process performance?

Please move this discussion to the 'Netflow Traffic Analyzer' forum Which version of NTA are you using? Assuming you are still using 3.x version of NTA (which is most likely the case), this is likely due to the constant data aggregation process. NTA v4 would definitely alleviate this to a very large degree since NTA v4…

Don, this discussion is i the NPM forum but your question seems more appropriate for NCM. I recommend using the new Smart Advisor utility to get the latest and greatest data Cisco SmartAdvisor - NCM Connector | SolarWinds

Settings, then Manage Nodes, group by 'Polling Engine'

Did you also change the policy on the clients to 'Allow non-Microsoft signed content' ? Did you also look at this KB? SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: You receive a 0x800b0109 error when deploying 3rd Party Updates to clients

17778 is the SDK port. It's the same for NPM, NCM, SAM or any Orion instance. There is an out of the box SAM template to monitor Orion services http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/en/flarehelp/sam/default.htm#SAMTemplateReference-SolarWinds(Orion)Server.htm

Edit the AP down alert from advanced alert manager, and see if you have defined a Trigger Action for sending emails.

If you save the contents below in a batch file C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe netsh interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" static 10.0.0.71 255.255.252.0 10.0.0.5 does it work fine when you run it from command line when you are logged in as the local SW account? If yes, you should be able to simply browse and…

Did you try exporting the Custom Property(properties) from the Manage Custom Properties > Export Values and then save as xls (instead of csv)? I find it easier to edit in an Excel format than csv.
-
Did you try this from chrome or firefox from another machine? From the screenshot, it looks like you are trying to use IE on the NPM server itself.

Do you own a SAM license (Server & Application Monitor)? If so, it is very easy to build an application template using a 'SQL User Experience Monitor' component monitor
-
This one is an oldie but still mostly relevant. Some of the things like Data export are now more easily accessible from the Reporting tab of the web console. Reporting in Virtualization Manager The key to everything in Virtualization Manager is building the correct search criteria which can be done using the Advanced…

Just create a LEM Filter on CoreNetworkTraffic event group (which should cover TCPTrafficAudit, UDPTrafficAudit, etc) and a keyword match on Deny. You can then add a custom widget to the OPS CENTER dashboard, and trend that filter.

I'm not sure why the information is different. If you want to use the information from the Inventory section, you can create a web report. Choose a ' Custom Table' to add and add the 'Last Boot' column as shown below

which version of NPM?

You can do it a couple of different ways - single-sign on with their domain account - (easiest) create a help desk account, create a view for them and simply append the login & password to the view URL If the view URL is http://10.10.10.10/Orion/SummaryView.aspx?ViewID=1 the direct URL would look like below…

Put the 2 transactions in a Group. Be sure to change the group status rollup option to be 'Best case'. Set an email trigger action for the alert "alert me when a group is down'. And, that's it!

Did you launch the PermissionsChecker utility by right clicking and choosing 'Run as Administrator' option? Is UAC enabled on your Orion server? Are your SolarWinds folders excluded from real-time access scans if you have any antivirus program like McAfee or Sophos? If you are not able to see the folders even from windows…

Ok good. Igore that blog then. Go straight to the web reporter andd you shoud be able to add your charts. To climb the learning curve faster, you can go to youtube.com and go to the solarwindsinc playlists. You will find a quick tutorial in the NPM playlist
-
Jonny, which version of NPM are you using? That blog is for older versions of NPM. If you are using even a semi-recent version of NPM, you would using the Home, Reports link to add charts into your web reports.

sja, the first thing you will need to do is define new config types. Running and Startup are the 2 out of the box config types. This article explains what needs to be done and what you need to modify in the device template for defining the commands for the new config types Create custom configuration types in NCM -…

1st Q: Yes, you can use the out of the box Director Size Monitor component, but you will need to come up with the script to measure the folder size. There is a File Size monitor out of the box, but not for a folder. Once you have the script that spits out the folder size, you can use the 'Count Statistic as Difference'…

You may want to move this to the SAM forum. When you get this error, it typically means what it says, i.e., the WMI class is not available to query. I suggest you go follow the troubleshooting steps in this guide http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/apm/docs/apmwmitroubleshooting.pdf and see if its an issue with the WMI…

The groups are meant for availability of all the components as a whole. if you want to be notified when any of your WAN links go down, what I would recommend is create a Interface custom property call 'LinkType' or something similar, maybe with drop down options like 'WAN', 'LAN', etc. Assign the value WAN to your WAN…

You can't show the list of nodes and add a summary line (like Excel sub-totals). However, you can add multiple resources to the same web report. One that shows the itemized availability per node. A second resource that shows the Average availability across the nodes in the data source selection.
-
Unfortunately, there isn't a way to exclude volumes based on a pattern. your best bet for now would be to add a rule in your enterprise monitoring tool to ignore anything that contains the word snapshot. With the SRM release that is currently in beta ( Orion platform integration), this should be a very easy thing to do.…

No, you will not be able to. You will need to be under active maintenance to run the latest versions

Whats your alert criteria ? What do you mean by mcafee service alerts? You mean snmp traps or syslog messages ? I'm trying to understand if you really need to use custom properties
-
On the SolarWinds server, you will find an 'Unmanage scheduler' utility that you can use to define recurring unmanage schedules

Launch Advanced Alert Manager, start creating a new alert, change property to monitor from default 'Node' to 'Routing Neighbors' and add a 'has changed' condition. You can find a screenshot here Re: Alerting on BGP Neighbor Changes for routers
