dropfreeze, I would highly recommend that you start a fresh discussion about this in the NPM forum so that you get focussed responses around your requirement. NAT is the normal approach taken here https://thwack.solarwinds.com/community/solarwinds-community/product-blog/blog/2012/04/17/orion-multi-tenant-deployments…

Hi gstadter, You should be able to mitigate a lot of the pain around having to use naming conventions and wildcard searches on node names, etc by using Application Custom properties in your dynamic queries. You assign Application custom properties to Application Monitors (i.e.,instances of application monitor templates…

This is the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long time! p.s: Yes, I am a geek

RC3 and GA are the same build. So, you are good if you are already at RC3

Hi ciscovoicedude. I have been following all the 3 posts on this topic, and all have them been brilliantly summarized. There is one particular 'taking things further' type of thing that is available in NCM called 'Config Change Templates' that has a far reaching impact on change management. This template is not just a…

This feature is now available in WPM 2.1 Beta Web Performance Monitor 2.1.0 Beta is available

Haha! Was that a Fawlty Towers reference?
-
mellowd, these are very handy indeed, and awk is my 1st choice for building new SAM templates as well (if I need to). Are there any sites that you recommend that serve as good tutorials?
-
My apologies. I didn't realise that. I will delete my comment to avoid confusing other users.

There is an updated version of the attachment available here http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Orion/docs/ScalabilityEngineGuidelines.pdf

If you are running NPM v10.7, you can override the OIDs mentioned in the thwack post using Manage > Custom Pollers settings. Look at the custom pollers section of this blog NPM 10.7 RC1 Now Available

When you have a pre-production and production environment, the procedure discussed below is one of the most useful features of Patch Manager Duplicating Update Approvals using Patch Manager
-
while I totally agree this would be very handy, I believe you can restore default views by deleting the modified views and re-running the config wizard,I.e., no reinstall required.

See workaround here Re: Management dashboard.

ravagin11, You can do this today. Go to Manage Nodes, change the Group by to your custom property. To the bulk select from the checkbox in the title bar of the filtered result set. And click Unmanage.
-
Ultimately the widget and nDepth rely on your Filter definition. Have you tried modifying your filter to exclude these $ accounts?
-
supercool, What exactly did you run into when you tried to create an Alert on 'Custom Node Table Poller' object type? Unless I am missing something, this is already possible
-
keegen, I do see how it would be useful to make CPU & Memory data protocol agnostic (SNMP, WMI or SSH). However, SAM does have templates that solves your underlying concern today. You can find samples below http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/APM/Summary.aspx?viewid=205

He will be thoroughly missed. He was so generous with his time, and has helped countless people all across the world to become better IT practitioners. He was always so thorough with his advices. Lawrence was a wealth of knowledge and not a hint of ego. RIP.

swuzer As a workaround, see my example of monitoring SNMP data on WMI nodes below. Dell Servers - Disk Hardware Health via SNMP

It would have to be a custom SQL alert. There is a sample one for volume changes below.Your custom SQL alert would be something similar volume usage changed more than 10% over last 2 hours alert
-
This can be done today. You just need to have an admin share for the E drive, and define this monitoring from Settings > Assign Local Shares and choose a Share Depth of 1. All the information above is available in the 'File Age Categories by Access Time' or 'File Age Categories by Modified Time' reports

Amazing stuff. Thank you!

nickzourdos Until this is an out of the box feature, enjoy the instructions posted here to create the report you are looking for Re: Combine two UDPs on a line in a report
-
This feature is now available in NPM v12 Beta NPM v12 Beta2 Now Available

It looks like the MIB for your UPS is not present in the MIB database. If it is, the OIDs get translated to the 'human-friendly' text. You can submit a support ticket to get the MIB added to the database.
-
For what it's worth, I thought I would mention DD seems to have a good MIB http://www.oidview.com/mibs/19746/DATA-DOMAIN-MIB.html So, it should be possible to customize SNMP pollers using NPM's Universal Device Poller Network Performance Monitor (NPM) Core Training - YouTube
-
You can use polling engines in lieu of the STM (SRM profiler) agents. Have you considered it already?
-
I couldn't agree with Jfrazier more. If you have the mandate from the top, it always makes things easier. Anything overarching like help desk projects or ones with a security intent such as SIEM tends to bring the various teams together. Although many of the SolarWinds solutions help you with this goal of breaking down…

No worries, mate. Just mark the discussion as answered. Thwack will thank me on your behalf by giving me 25 points.
