While i know this goes without saying but ill say it anway. 9.5.1 makes changes to the database. The updated database is incompatible with 9.5.0. just FYI One of our servers has been having significant issues for 3 weeks now after a 9.5.1 upgrade. No comment on the value of Solarwinds support. Looks like its time for the…

I don't know how I managed to not see that button so many times. That's exactly what I was looking for. Is there a way to do that for a specific interface? Or how about a way to monitor the interface when it's up, but not necessarily report on up/down status? Thanks a bunch on the "Unmanage" feature. My fault. ID10T error.

I guess that's part of my problem. I don't see any way to "unmanage" a node.

I'm looking at 9.5 and it would appear that we do summarize the values properly in the CustomPollerStatistics table(Detail, Hourly, Daily). The key column in this case is the RawStatus field, if we can summarize, it's on this column. I'll seem to remember us making a change in 9.5 to make this work properly though. If you…

Sorry I meant to say that the "application details" view is actually not even an option for me in the list. And if I try to create it with the same name, it says there is one that is already created, but I can't see it. Thanks for the quick reply though. Joe

Just a quick note... If you're running NPM 10.2, the gathering of topology data is no longer linked to Discovery. It will happen on the rediscovery interval. You can see if the MIB's are supported and being polled on a node by doing a 'List Resources'. If it's supported, it will be shown. If it's being polled, it will be…

That version of NPM is no longer supported. I know that version had issues with the alert engine, so your best bet is to upgrade to v9.5.

The problem has been fixed by going to Software Update Point Component / Classifications - Select Tools then do a full sync. iTunes, Winzip, Real Player and other third party apps are considered Tools by CM.

We don't have SCUP installed on the CM server that runs in production. I can not install SCUP in production so I am not going to be able to get that done. Any other suggestions?

It sounds to me like it's complaining about this part of the instructions: Open your Microsoft Management Console (MMC) and create at least one security group called ROLE_LEM_ADMINISTRATORS in Active Directory Users and Computers. Did you add that group?
-
We ran into this issue as well. Our idea to address the issue is to schedule an Orion service restart to clear the alerts. Maybe once a day? Anyone see any holes in this idea?

Thanks Silverbacksays. I am trying to retrieve the older report (think I may have deleted it). What I have been asked to do is add a field to an existing NetFlow report to include the Country. The report is the "Top 100 Conversations including applications - Last 24 hours". Management would like to see where the Country…

We changed behavior on maps and all nodes to roll up the worst status. On maps, you can modify it by going into Map Maker > Settings and click on the Map Defaults, and you can control the % of items that must be down to call it down.

Woo! Just today I was trying to add some HP Jetdirects and they would not talk to Orion no matter what settings I had tried. I'm glad I happened to check here for this hotfix. Any chance there is a mailing list for customers wanting the latest announcements/hotfixes??? -Scott

The way USB-Defender works is that we log everything we detect about USB to the event log (devices attached, detached, etc) and then we only catch ones that we know are phones, mass storage, or network devices and pass them on to either the offline policy or the normalized event stream. This prevents you from accidentally…

If the device has a MIB with that information, you should be able to poll it with the Universal Device Poller.

This is new to me - there must be something in the data throwing it off, or something not collated. I'll check with the team. Edit - what is the timeframe you're searching where you see this so I can be sure we're reproducing it correctly?
-
I feel like slapping myself right now lol. Thank you for your help.
-
Yes! You can see what events are in an event group from Build > Groups. You can refine it just to Event Groups to just see those, then click on one, and down below you'll see which events are checked off.
-
I'll take it as a feature request, but it's not possible now.

Yup, I enabled 64 bit counters but it didn't seem to make a difference.

Neat tools. The events will be generated regardless as they are received and read from the logs, but you can use rules to determine when events might fire an email or notification. There isn't really a way to suppress events from being received or shown entirely on the LEM side, but you can use LEM to only "escalate" useful…

Just to follow up on this... I checked everything that was said but it was not helpful in resolving the issue. I continued to have these messages everytime i would reboot Orion and other times seemingly at random. After upgrading to NPM 10.3 yesterday these messages are now gone.

OK, I have 7.8 running on my machine again. I uninstalled 8 and renamed the Solarwinds directory under Program File to Solarwindsbackup. Interesting thing, during the install of 7.8 I got an unexpected error as well, but the configuration wizard still ran and things seem to be working for right now. Since our IT is in the…

I requested that they give me access to the 7x version again. I'm uninstalling the broken 8x version and will try to re-install the version 7x code.

Took 1 1/2 days for a ticket to be opened (still a little miffed about that). They said they have never seen this error before and it has been escalated to Tier 2 support.
