This is a windows 2000 server with MS SQL Server Standard Edition. My NetPerfMon DB is current 10Gigs. I have sent 2 e-mails to support. I realize that Monday is probably pretty busy, but I'm in a bind.

Doing a little searching through the forums, I find a post by EricM on 9/19/2006 discussing a knowledge base article support.solarwinds.net/.../ProblemDetail.cfm . I tried re-registering the SQLDMO.dll per those instructions. When I try, I get this error message: DllRegisterServer in c:\program…

Renamed the Solarwinds Directory to Solarwinds-backup. Reinstalled, got the same error message. Double clicked on the Orion System Manager icon to see what would happen. I get this message first: The wizard need to restart so an upgraded file can be reloaded". If I click the "ok" button. I get the same message again. If I…

This is a great request. Archiving is something we want to spend some time on. We switched our nDepth log storage to archive two ways, which might be useful to implement for the database instead of the current "make me a big ol' copy" archive: * Via a mechanism that copies data partitions/shards to a file share as they are…

The only way I got this to work was to set the threshold in APM and then alert against whether or not the APM monitor was UP or Down. drbaltz, This is how most people use APM. Otherwise, you have to make an alert for every stat. It sounds like that doesn't work for you. What's the problem?

I would like the ticket to be automatically assigned to the first technician that adds a note to the ticket outside of the help desk staff.

Hi usmcjohn, We are facing the same problem. Have you able to solve this issue? Regards

Another problem that I have is that I need to monitor a log file after a string called severity="1". Is it possible to use special characters in the searchstring? The tests I have done has either complained about illegal characters or listed every hit with severity in it. All I want is the lines that matches the string…

Hey Byron, In general, log management systems are as good as the log data - sounds like the obvious, I know, but there are some weaknesses in log data that a change auditing system can detect better, and generally those systems have more information about how much has changed or previous values of things that were changed.…

It works great for Riverbed steelhead 5050; I am able to use SSH auto in the configuration, but just made sure I have Enable Level - enable set in the connection Profile. Thank you!

Hi Sergey, I have been trying to do the same with my branch availability reports. I wanted to limit them from 9AM to 6PM (business hours of the day) and here is what i found useful. Hope its helpful for you as well. Cheers! A.K

1. Definately more useful. 2. Interactivity is a big plus 3. Actions would be real time tests such as poll now, rediscover, ping, tracert, etc. 4. A slightly larger view with basic graphs of utilization, cpu, memory, etc 5. I think the icons are somewhat superfluous. The colored bar is sufficient (for me anyway) 6. What…

There's an easier way to do what you want. Set your polling intervals to defaults and levae them there. Create two sets of alerts. One for the daytime which alerts based on defaults. Use the Time of Day tab to suppress those alerts at night. Create an equavalent nightime alert that and then set up a sustained-state trigger…

Good question! I've wondered this too. Thanks for bringing it up.

Thank you so much, that helped me figure it out. I was able to renew the certificate using portecle and following the instructions on the documentation. Although the documentation is for windows, it was still very helpful for the VA appliance. All I did was: 1. Copy the existing keystore_new.jks file from the virtual…

Win2k doesn't support the same WMI counters.

I see in the Information Service v2.0 log an error that says "Information Service failed to open a channel. Could not find file 'D:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Information Service\2.0\SWNetPerfMon.DB' The time associated with this error does not directly coinside with my retry attempts and it does not recur every time I…

Dev took a look, and they suggested you open a Support ticket.

Seems like the WLC connector should pick it up - the connector is matched to the right log (i.e. checklogs says the data is in local4.log, CiscoWLC is configured for local4.log)? If so, our connector just might need to be tweaked, so you might have to submit a log sample and see if we can get it fixed.

This is a high priority for us. One question: For a switch, figuring out the device dependencies is something that can be done somewhat automatically by analyzing the topology. But what about when an edge router goes down? We're looking for a way to allow users to define dependencies in a simple UI, but that type of…

Mike, Some fields can't be edited. The Contact field you are talking about is a field populated by SNMP and can't be edited directly. Any change you make would be overwritten eventually. Suggest you create a new CP similar to Contact and then you can edit it. Otherwise edit the contact information on the device directly.

Yeah, when you import the config it's going to try to talk to the database server IP remotely. Best bet is to open a support case and make sure everything migrates cleanly. It's the best way to go (L4 => single) but it's good to have a little oversight on the extra steps that might require lower level access.

Hi quiglax, Have you already checked the 'Setting Up Email' section in the Admin Guide? Also, regarding the bulk deletion of tickets, here is an article which might help you with that. Kind regards, Maria

Would be nice if my alerts worked at all
-
Unfortunately, there is no way to do this via the web. It's all happening within the standard poller, which is why we didn't put it on the web in the first place. We'll be changing the way this works next year to allow web-based admin.

Wish you luck. Every time we upgrade its a hassle and never goes well. We usually need to open a ticket. Last upgrade of one poller, NTA, NCM and additional web server took 6 hours to sort out. One before that a Solarwinds tech spent 4 hours doing. I have no desire to ever upgrade again.
