I certainly agree that stabilizing the code takes precedent. However I do think adding a mobile view and not just a RSS feed would be a significant step forward - mainly to make the escalation feature useful. Obviously we don't want to wake up at 6am to discover a major outage occurred at midnight and hasn't been…

It's true an improper setup will hinder you in a SAN environment. Like mine where I have 7200 RPM disks which obviously aren't going to cut it for a SQL server as busy as Orion. But I wouldn't want to scare people away from deploying one as it does work.

It's not currently on the roadmap. To get on the roadmap, I would need to have a lot of folks rate BB app as more important than other features. I've put it out there before, and it never outranks the other features. I'll keep it in on the list for evaluations, though.

Correct, if you lose the main Orion server, then the APM Additional Poller won't work. We are working on making the Hot Standby more comprehensive in its functionality. How many monitors do you have? What's the scalability goal you're shooting for?

Ok, thanks Andy! I'll know better if it will be bad after next weeks meeting with the auditors to see if they accept our position.

Thank you tdanner this comment was the most useful for me getting the discovery process working, I'll see if I can put an example in the python examples on GitHub, so others do not need to spend so long searching Thwack.

Thanks for the reply guys.Cheers!!

Sorry, I'm drawing a blank how I got it to update. It was basically wiping out a table were names were built from the old name. Pretty sure it was updating node name, which was fine, but then had all the old node names in interface resources/graphs.

hmmm soundslike I will need to create some views ont he SQL server for the end user to run when they need specific data

Looks right. Maybe you're catching the resultant UserDisable events and not the original? You might drop in the ProviderSID and make sure it's 644/4740 (the "Account Lockout" not "Account Disable" event), or check using a search/filter to see what's causing the rule to fire. When it fires, do you get more than one email?

I see that a link to a KB article was posted. Might want to go through the steps if it applies to you.

Hmm... this may in fact do what we are looking for. Thank you for the help, we will test and see. Thank you again!

Yes, please post if you get your solution working. Thanks for your feedback r0berth1.

One of the things that I find missing as a SW customer is having access to the product roadmap sometimes available through NDA through some of my other product vendors. We don't share this way for a reason. Part of how SolarWinds can be offer cheap and cheerful enteprise software is that we keep things very flexible on the…

Denny can you release an estimated release date? It's not just me being coy. I really can't say for a whole bunch of reasons related to auditors and the SEC. What can i say? ...we're in Beta, so very soon...

We haven't made a final decision yet.

Trying to dig out something that could prove useful to the thresholds, how tweakable would that be in the future? I'm assuming its just a case of changing $maxMBs? I think we could work on the premise, initially at least, that anything over 75MB should raise a warning, and anything over 100MB should raise a critical…

found this, not sure if its workable? dispatcherConnHAModePropertySRPID has unique values, for each of those values there is a correlating value of 1 or 2 for dispatcherConnHAModePropertyMode. I want to monitor/alert for the failover, but i want to know which is the primary so i know that if certain services are stopped i…

same problem - I registered the one in system32 first, then the one in the program files. I did a search for the DLL - THAT I didn't find. Can you attach that one? And what directory should these be in - system32 or the prog\sw\orion etc...

1. Is SNMP enabled on the device? (how do check this,it is linux box). 2. Can you use any other SNMP tools to query the device?(not detecting other MIB tools) If other tools can't query it via SNMP, then Orion won't be able to do so either. I'd like to offer some advice on configuring the device, but I know nothing about…

I only ask this cause I know that the current version of Solarwinds Orion is not multi-threaded That statement is not completely accurate. Although the standard SNMP poller is not multi-threaded, everything else is multi-threaded, including the Universal Device Poller, the job engine used by APM and VoIP Monitor, the…

A simple override on the Vendor field and/or the ability to choose a different category to use for view mapping were my thoughts. But the "Unknown devices" thread seems to speak volumes about how wide spread the issue of vendor field mapping is.

I had to pick the least serious default avatar I was reading through alot of posts and it isnt as dominated by SolarWinds as I thought it would be which is cool, but it obviously has a SolarWinds flavor to it. Many interesting discussions that arent related to SolarWinds products. It doesnt seem as Microsoft friendly as…

There is an OID for status but mine intent was two-fold. By adding these as Custom Properties I can include them on a map that I have depicting where the UPS's are and their values. That way anyone can see at a glance by looking at the map what the load is, temp, capacity, etc. I also found that using the alert from a…

Orion NPM 9.0 ships today, and one of the features of 9.0 is the ability to set your session to never time out. This is done on an account by account basis, so go to the account settings after you upgrade to 9.0.

am certainly (and obviously) not the only customer that needs/wants to flow through this functionality from a provisioning system. How about calling the functionality through the web UI with some sort of automation? Agreed. It's functionality that some customers would appreciate. It's something we plan to provide in a…

I detached all my resources and the following where very slow Network Wide Availability (loaded quicker the 2nd time I detached) and Advanced Syslog Summary (very very slow. Takes minutes to load).I assume becasue the syslog database is quite large now thinking about. * Network Wide Availability is always going to be slow…

Go to a resource. Click on the title. It will launch a separate tab or Window. See how long it takes to show. Is every resource slow? Or are some slower than others?
