Yes, Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008 are supported with all modules with NPM 9.5/NCM 5.5.
-
The Toolset currently supports Windows 2000, 2003, XP, and Vista Business and Ultimate (see page 3 of the Administrator Guide).

I talked to a technician this morning, and he advised that NPM 9.5 requires the NCM Integration Module 5.1 to interface with NCM. If any of you are on version 5.0 of the integration module, you'll need to upgrade that to 5.1 before you install NPM 9.5. Then you should be able to run NCM 5.1.1 -- or, better yet, NCM 5.5. If…

Netflow is passive, but it does do NetBIOS resolutions. Support is looking into this case if it is not already closed.

You will likely get the fastest response through a support ticket. Be sure to enter Orion Evaluation in the SolarWinds Application field so you'll get the right engineer to work with you.

We'd love to have replies posted here so that others can benefit from the advice given!

Actually, we don't recommend against using a SAN. The caution we have on any DB-related configurations is write speed. If that's fast enough, Orion is happy. We do, however, recommend that your database be on a SQL server separate from the Orion box, and if your environment is really large, a SQL server box dedicated to…

hanz, Please open a support ticket, and select Orion Evaluation as the SolarWinds Application. Someone will get back to you shortly to work on the website errors with you.

You will need to first go to either version 9.0 or 9.1. Note, however, that 9.5 does not support SQL 2000, but does now support both SQL 2008 (and 2005) and Windows 2008 Server. So if you're running SQL 2000, you'll need to upgrade to at least SQL 2005, if not 2008. Check the Administrator Guide, under Requirements…

Is there any documentation for the TriggerQueryDesign Field in the AlertDefinitions Table? In answer to this part, we do not document the database structure. It is by far preferred not to do direct calls to the database, and for us to provide tools for customers to do so is not advisable.

It looks like that's correct, but sometimes how elements are counted can be misleading on something like this. See this post for information on how SolarWinds counts elements for licensing. Customer Service will be your best resource on getting the licenses straightened out to what you really need.

If this is a "missing icon" issue, please submit a support ticket as described in this post.

franku, If this has not yet been resolved, you might want to open a support ticket, and a support technician can work through it with you.

Please contact Customer Service (customerservice@solarwinds.com) and they'll help you get your licenses straightened out.

We've now activated the IPAM forum, so post away! If IPAM is actively scanning, there will be a Cancel button next to the Edit button when you View Subnet Scan Status. If there's no Cancel button, please post the error message. As for your boss, what IP management method are you currently using? If it's a spreadsheet, like…

The Orion Server Migration document may be of some help, as well as the Administrator Guide. Note, however, that, depending on the size and complexity of your monitored network, it may be advisable to keep your SQL server separate from your Orion server, perhaps on a dedicated server. On page 10 of the Administrator Guide,…
