The case history on your support ticket shows you were sent a reply early this morning (Central time) with some suggestions. If you did not receive that reply, please let me know and I'll have the technician follow up with you.

On page 135 of the Administrator Guide, there's a bullet point about the MIB database: "To expand the default MIB database, use the Custom Database Builder available on the ipMonitor Support Portal to select MIBs from ipMonitor's MIB Repository and perform automated MIB compilations. You can then add the newly-created…

No, you should be just fine with Orion on one server and the database on a different server. Make sure SQL is configured to maximize write speed -- that really helps performance.

This is a function of the upgraded NTA 3.1. See the thread on NetFlow 3.1 creating additional DB's.

Thanks, Bryan! Looking into the case history, there is a note from yesterday morning that support is still working on it, as is development.
-
What is the case number? I'll see if I can get an update.

If you mean, can you have the Orion database on a separate server from the Orion application, then yes, you can, and in fact that arrangement is recommended for larger installations. If you mean, can the Report Writer get data from a non-Orion database, then no, it cannot.

Stacey, this thread may be helpful in determining how license counts are calculated.

Just to confirm: You did add the SNMP Service through Windows, yes? SolarWinds doesn't install that for you.

Did you run the Configuration Wizard?

There's the datasheet, the Administrator Guide, and the latest release notes, all available from the Support tab just below the Thwack banner at the top of the page.

Change the Status Rollup Mode to Mixed rather than Worst. Worst means it will display the status of the parent as the worst child device (if one is down, it'll show the parent as down). Mixed means it will display a warning if there are mixed child statuses (some up, some down).

Ajkan, Please open a support ticket on this, and include the Additional Information, so a technician can help you work through this.

We actually recommend that you upgrade to 8.5.1 first, and then you can go directly to 9.1 SP5. You will need to upgrade the license. Check your customer portal first for licensing information, and if needed, contact Customer Service. You should also be able to download 9.1 SP5 from the customer portal. CS can help you…

With all the possibilities involved here, I suggest you open a support ticket so that a technician can look at everything you've got going to track down the root issue.

Orion NPM 9.1 does not support Windows 2008 Server. Page 8 of the Administrator Guide gives the requirements for hardware and software needed: "Windows 2003 Server (32-bit or 64-bit) including R2, with IIS installed, running in 32-bit mode." Support for 2008 will be coming soon in the next release.

Please open a support ticket on this.
