  • Folks, What settings are you using for Netflow Settings-Global Settings - Uncompressed and Compressed data retention times? We set ours very short (1 hour/30 days) as IMHO long-term netflow data isn't very useful. I've seen other shops go even shorter (1 hour/7 days)... Don
  •  Josh, Thanx for the info. I did check through the event logs, and I do see this error: SolarWinds.APM.BusinessLayer:A license check failed. License does not match install type. Which went away after I uninstalled and reinstalled the product.
  • Found it See
  •  Bingo! <<Doing the Engineers Dance of Joy>> In the Accounts table, the value of the NetFlowSummaryViewID was set to "-2" on the accounts that DIDN'T work, yet set to "46" on the good ones. Changing the row value to 46 fixed the issue. Is there something specific to the value "-2" ? Sounds like the Universal KaBoom to me.…
  •  Fire up the database manager and look at the applications table - you can see the column names and the data that is in them. Just use the column name of the data you want
  • Floyd, Just did it! Thanks, Don
  • Chart needs another column to discern between esx4 upgrades and clean installs Upgrades work, Clean installs don't.
  •  Here's the App Monitor Variables in PDF format. Advanced Alert Engine Variables with the Application Monitor.pdf Don
  •  Hmmm... bombs saying it wants a RW SNMP string - how do you set that on an ASA?
  •  Note to everyone: this add-on is to send orion alerts to a Mom server - it does not poll the WMI interface like MOM does.
  •  Denny, We're interested in Beta too - we just rolled out VoIP here nationwide - and I really don't want to invest the $$$ in Cisco's here-today -> gone-tomorrow management tools. We can/will wait for something better... this might be it! Don
  •  Haley, The pix I attached tells the story - See the Baseline under "Cisco 2821" ? That would be the baseline for all the devices in the group of "Cisco 2821" - i.e Cisco 2821 - Amarillo, Cisco 2821 - Biglerville, etc etc. Maybe for such a thing we should call it a Template instead of a baseline. Don
  • Mib-walker doesn't show that interface for some reason: lubbock-gw#show snmp mib ifmib ifindex FastEthernet0/0: Ifindex = 1 Foreign Exchange Station 0/0/0: Ifindex = 14 Loopback0: Ifindex = 26 Null0: Ifindex = 12 VoIP-Null0: Ifindex = 11 IF-MIB 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.1.0 ifNumber.0 145 IF-MIB 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1.1 ifIndex.1 1…
  • Chris, It's exchange 2003. Here's a list of the WMI objects typically monitored by MOM on exchange:
  • Denny is correct, that's how we are (Orion SLX, VoIP SLX and APM100). Obviously there's still some considerable confusion as to what licensing works with what. I have no problem with Solarwinds making a buck, I just like to know up front what the costs are. Thus this seems to be an area of irritation for us. Maybe some…
  • I've seen it... but honestly I think I lot of us are leery as there's no way to simulate an event. I CAN tell you IMHO the process has issues.... we've done exactly what the example says, and we still get alerts from a site's devices IF the site's router goes down. Some sites it works, some it doesn't. All set up the same.…
  • * Can you run System Manager okay? * Run The orion Service Manager, stop everything and restart it. Don
  •  uh, What? It got cold outside so they closed the ticket?
  •  When we did our migration to VMware we didn't clone the existing Orion box - we did a re-install and import. We have a master server image that we base things off of - which now doesn't have IIS installed on it. The problem (if you get it) is that all the charts in Netflow will be blank. Don
  • Did you change the login prompt?
  •  There's a link for "release notes" to the right of the link where you download it. The Notes imply that only Netflow is affected, but... Safe Bet: Shutdown, back up, apply patch. Avoids "mild discomfort"
  • Vhcato, That may be it - I had the escalation under the email action tab - not under the Trigger Condition tab. Now for some testing.... Thanks!!!!
  •  Use the WGET program to pull it from a batch file. The program is in the Content Sharing Zone Don
  •  Networkers was good.... Solarwinds booth at the show was *packed*, it was tough getting to Denny to harass him :) VoIP Monitor looked really good - and what I could see of 8.5 was of significant refinement as well. Even more interesting was in two different Ciscoworks sessions, both Cisco Engineers said you really needed…
  • Change C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Maps\NetObjects\Imported>rename weather.jpg weather.wmf to C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Maps\NetObjects\Imported>rename 5L.jpg weather.wmf
  • Wish List: Be able to permanently exclude a range of IP's from being scanned within a subnet. Why? Really couldn't care less about what happens within our scope areas, which typically (with a class C subnet) are the .101 -.254 addresses. They get DHCP addresses, and that's great...... But, I REALLY want to know when…

  •  I'd like to see this one too.. Nice work! BTW, enjoy Spain....watch out for the local sangria! lucky! Don
  • What app is that? Nice stuff!
  • We're opening up a ticket as we're seeing the exact same issue.I'll let ya know. The weird thing is we know the credentials are good... we can ssh to the vmware server and they work. Don
  •  Ah! Thanks Mark!
