Congrats to all the MVP's!

Hi there, Could you please elaborate the issue and perhaps provide a use case thanks.

We aren't allowed to use ICMP to ping the agents since they (all 5000+ of them) are running in a DMZ. If what you're asking for was the default behavior then we'd potentially get 5000+ alerts after deployment. I would much rather have an option to bulk edit the agent based nodes and change status collection method.

+1 for import export functionality

Excellent topic. Monitoring issues a threat to security because monitoring uncovers the network and stores compromising details such as topology, protocols, vulnerabilities etc. Security is first and foremost about obscurity, this is also known as security through obscurity = security = secrecy. Policies in security…

Yup, and unmanaged state is not necessarily a problem.

Could you perhaps email the report to the g**gle account, then have it automatically forwarded to g**gle drive?
-
I'd rather have an arrow shot through my kneecap.

Find out what user is using that particular view, use auditing if required, then disable the account in Manage Accounts. You could also define a session timeout to achieve the same goal.

Hi there, Any idea why we wouldn't be getting bps in and bps out for GlobalProtect VPN clients? It works on some but not all PA firewalls.

I would call in the director for a meeting to discuss the pros and cons of running services in the cloud. I would put extra emphasis on the cons. Here's some food for thought: Top 10 cloud computing risks and concerns 8 Reasons to Fear Cloud Computing 9 Cloud Computing Security Risks Every Company Faces Cloud adoption…

Slightly OT... I've been following Microsoft's Storage Spaces technology for a while now and lately had the opportunity to test the newest iteration of Storage Spaces with Tiering which was introduced in windows Server 2012 R2. The test setup consisted of 4x JBOD storage arrays, 24x 300GB SAS-2 HDDs and 12x 250GB SATAIII…

Right now we have to open up vSphere to confirm that the IP we found to be "available" in Orion IPAM is not in use. Rather frustrating, especially since some folks don't have access to vSphere. Network dep contacts Systems dep just to have them lookup an IP in vSphere. Thanks for your vote
-
All the major server systems manufacturers have already started working on adopting this new technology in server boards. I am therefore expecting this to play a big role in the next gen hyper-converged systems.

We've got a hybrid network so no offense taken Does your equipment have IS-IS MIB and OIDs to monitor IS-IS?
-
Hi Michal, How do we add Nodes to UDT in UDT v3.2? Regards, Deltona
-
AFAIK, loading the World Map relies on local network resources ie: the internet connection on the client machine accessing the browser. Is he accessing the World Map resource from the Orion server?

An old Android smartphone monitors our NMS. If an error is found, a text is sent with description. If the power goes out, the phone keeps running and sends a text as well The phone is powered by the server's USB port. It might as well be power by a wall adapter.

It would be nice if we could SWIS into additional pollers to get this information and present it in the Polling Engines page.
-
Josh, You will be missed dearly. SolarWinds won't ever be the same again without you around - the Head Geek ! We'll miss your great stories, valued input in Geek Speek and overall presence at SolarWinds. I hope to see you again sometime, especially, maybe, at SolarWinds again in the future. Thanks for all the hard work and…

Cisco firmware versions currently available do not contain an OID to monitor IS-IS related events. You need to feature request this @ Cisco
-
An FoE 101 video covering everything from initial preparation, requirements, deployment, known issues and tests would be great.
-
This is now possible in 2024.1, though not for table pollers. @"solarwinds_worldwide_llc" should change the status to implemented.
-
Yeah that is going to be tough, making IS-IS data part of MIB-II standardization. At least you have the ability to poll these OIDs on your equipment... and change Node status (NPM vNEXT) based on that. The rest of us are stuck using SNMP Traps with Cisco equipment

Hi there, Try loading the page in another browser. The hardware monitor is only for Windows machines, 32 & 64 bit.

That was quick. Great work! Thank you!
