Steve, that checkbox does not disable my emailed alerts, as I mentioned in my original post. Does it in fact disable yours? Debbi

Finn, I hope you have more luck than me. I am finding no particular correlation when I walk the mib on any of my switches with 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.19 with the number Orion shows, so I am thinking that may not be the correct OID. And support is now telling me: "Now this can be corrected by resetting the counters on the device…

Using one as an example, Nslookup on the app box shows the correct hostname. I looked at the DNS server and the WINS server and neither have the old hostname anywhere. I must confess I never do direct manipulation of the db so I may be doing it wrong. When I run the query you suggested using the SQL Query Analyzer, I get…

I checked this three times. If I create a custom chart, and go into edit, and Select a Chart: Min/Max/Average packets In/Out, when I click "Submit", on the Interface Details page it displays a chart of "Min/Max/Average Packets per Second" What the heck? -Debbi

I guess no one has any input on this? I guess I will need to open a support ticket. -Debbi

Thanks. Still want to know where you found the Node.DNS one! I think I am on the right track now. Much appreciated, greetings from Oregon. Debbi

And in my case on a 100 Mbps port. I searched pretty thoroughly in past forum threads and found a few where this issue was brought up, but no one at SW ever really offered an explanation. The thread just disappeared into the past. I have another link where I saw the same thing this last week. Debbi

Thanks. I hope running the wizard will be sufficient, and I will not have to reinstall.

OK, thanks.

And the only db size impact, if we were already seeing the traffic designated as "unmonitored" anyway, is adding the application fields to the db, correct? -Debbi

OK, here's a "let the upgrader beware" story. My db is about 80 gig. The migration kept aborting because the queries were timing out, but tech support thought it was still running even though it said clear as day in the log that it had aborted! Then I had to set the SQL query timeout to "unlimited". The db/log fiiles…

WINNT, your description of the support experience is a riot and sadly, so true! And the ticket entry system is certainly an impediment to opening a ticket (by design???). -Debbi
-
Yes, eventually you have to stop waiting for support tickets to be responded to and ask the forum. -Debbi

OK, I guess I had to create a Custom Chart, then I had chart editing options. I was feeling pretty brain-dead for a while.... Thanks!!! Debbi

OK, even as I await how the ip grouping can help me here, I have another question, again, probably easy for you and so very helpful for me. If I choose an interface and go to the Netflow Interface Details page, when I click on one of the TopN domains, it brings me to a nice screen that includes list of top senders and top…

Tim, are you saying that the "auto reload" feature keeps the session going indefinitely? Maybe that would explain why we have a timeout set but it never times us out. Debbi

I have SP4 hotfix 2, have run the scripts to "fix" this issue twice (2 separate support tickets). Still working with support, the db maint "Summarizing detailed data from NPM_WIRELESS" sometimes takes 4 hours and I have basically no data being stored during that time. 2009-12-20 02:24:07,837 [1] INFO…

Thank you for your kind replies. One of the replies suggested that I open a support ticket. As you can see, my original message was quoting from my support ticket, and the tech did not have any document to refer me to concerning simple or full SQL recovery mode and best practices. I did look at the attachment later…

You are right, it is not pretty, but I very much appreciate the time you took to post the query. I honestly believe that if SolarWinds had something like this as a canned report, formatted more nicely, it would be one of the most valuable reports. And sure, it could be a day or a week at a time, not a whole month. BTW, how…

If this is truly the only option, I find it annoying that something that was easily functional for many years in Orion, a single checkbox that toggled our active alerts off, and more importantly, easily back on again, was changed. Debbi

I will open a case and if I find out anything helpful I will post it in this thread.

And here is the place where the grouping by snmp location should be, I think. Sorry, I never did figure out how to get a thumbnail in here, even with Firefox. -Debbi

Thanks again to you both.

Thanks for your kind replies. I would like to avoid having to do this individually or globally (this would be tens of thousands of names because it would include Internet destinations.) If Netflow caches lookups for two days why would it not have expired in three weeks and re-resolved the names? Is this indicative of a…

I apparently do not have a "little SSH button" at the top of my screen.... Any ideas? For now I have created a user link, but I would really like the "little SSH button". Debbi

Matt and Jeffness, how would I alter Matt's batch file to use Putty? is it as straightforward as: "C:\path\Putty.exe" -ssh %extract% or does the %1 have to be in there somewhere? I know each ssh client can have its own requirements, and I am not a programmer. THANKS! Debbi

I had this problem in 8.5.1 (there's another thread about it). Destiny (solarwinds tech) said she was sure it has to do with an alert that is not working right, which would agree with what y'all are thinking. She had me uncheck an alert, save, then see if the messages stop, then re-check the box and go on to the next. Kept…

Well, after watching the video and monkeying around with this, instead of getting the serial number of the selected node, every node's detail page showed the serial number of one particular switch at our Animal Serivces site! Pretty funny, not sure I could do that again! Needless to say, the UDP is powerful, but perhaps…

In the release notes for 9.5 it says: If SQL Server System Common Language Runtime (CLR) Types are not already installed, Orion NPM will install them. I upgraded but did not get any error message, and here I have been running on 9.5 for several weeks not knowing that CLR is not enabled. It was only when I tried to edit…

Yes it would. Debbi
