I just found a group of devices that didn't work with string1. I changed them to string2 and they failed because it wasn't the correct string but at least they showed up in the inventory window. I changed them back to string1 and this time they all inventoried successfully. There were no macro involved in this.

To describe the problem a little better; The device shows "No SNMP Support" in "SNMP Status" and won't do inventories but I can pull MIBs on do other SNMP tasks with no problems. When I try to inventory the device name doesn't show up in the inventory window so it almost looks like Cirrus doesn't actually try. As noted…

If you don't mind some DOS work you could use BLAT (http://www.blat.net/) to e-mail the files from the config-archive.

I've still got 522 devices with "No SNMP Support" and I can't run an inventory on them. Any ideas?

I checked the DB and there are only four showing "No SNMP Support". They're all devices where I changed the SNMP string after setting everything to "OK". Obviously it didn't like me touching them. It's very odd that one of them will now inventory though. I'm going to go work on something else to avoid the temptation to…

I recommend closing Cirrus, updating the SNMPStatus field in the Nodes table for each of the devices to state OK, and opening Cirrus. Wait about an hour or so and see if the value changes back to "No SNMP Support" It's the next morning and I've got 522 devices with "No SNMP Support".

I'll give it a try and let you know.

Thanks. One note. I changed the SNMP Version to "Version 2" after the import. There was no option to set it during the import. I still can't inventory the node after setting the SNMP Version.
-
Can you provide a screenshot of the Node Details for one of the devices that state "No SNMP"? I don't know of a way to attach it here so I've e-mailed it to you.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. My change is scheduled for next Thursday.

I don' t have a better answer for you other that enabling the node monitoring while the nodes are discovered. Does this no longer help? It doesn't seem to. Monitoring was enabled for a couple of days. I turned it off yesterday as it seemed to be slowing things down. Not sure it was the monitoring but something was making…

I created the custom properties in the new DB, deleted all the nodes and re-imported them. The custom properties imported correctly and at least that bit is okay. Now I get to spend time figuring how to get my custom macros back. I notice that Solarwinds is ignoring the question of why the installer left the customer…

Config snippets should have been upgraded when you moved from 3.x to 4.x as the location has NOT changed. They are stored in the ConfigArchive table (Select * From ConfigArchive where ConfigType='Snippet'). The upgrade from 3.5 to 4.0 didn't bring any of my database along. I've already complained about what an amateur job…

Thanks. I suspect we have different versions (I'm on 2000) but I think I found the right area. The file is on a drive that has 360GB free which is why I don't understand there errors. The transaction log has 460 MB allocated and is allowed to grow by 10% with no maximum and is currently at 517 MB. This message shows up…

The screen shots of the error messages are attached.

We're using 8.1. I was going to upgrade to 8.5 (now 8.5.1) there seem to be issues so I'm holding off for a week or two. Several weeks ago it was being slow and I did some disk cleaning as I noticed the C: drive was nearly full. I also defragged everything and it seemed to be pretty quick for a day or two and then went…

I haven't registered SSMA yet and won't if it can be avoided. I went looking in the Access DB and found the custom properties in the Nodes table. I was contemplating pulling the data and then writing SQL to get it into the new DB but I've had a new thought. If I create the custom properties in the new install and then…

What I'm looking for is suggested hardware specs, with good performance and room for expansion, that I can give to the server guys. I understand that there are a lot of variables but if you were buying a server for my setup what would the hardware be in terms of number, size and speed of disks and CPUs, how much RAM, etc.…

We're actually buying 2005 but I figured specifying 2008 would probably up the specs a little and keep us ready for a future upgrade. :-)

I found the SNMP Dictionary Attack tool and was able to create my own dictionary so that accomplished my goal.

FYI... I finally found the form to contact support (they do hide it, don't they), opened a ticket and we determined that Cirrus doesn't recognize the "[confirm]" prompt that the router sends after you ask it to clear counters, logs or a number of other things. I'm waiting to see if there's a fix.

The thought that people don't post the good news had occurred to me as well. Is the recommended path 8.1 >> 8.5 >> 8.5.1 or is it 8.1 >> 8.5.1. I believe it's the latter but just want to confirm. Thanks, everyone.

Are you trying to enter a password for the SMTP server or to password protect the email itself. If it's the first then go to File => Settings => SMTP Server. If it's the second one I think that's up to you email client.

I second the request.

I found this thread that refers to a "Disable All Actions" button. I'll try that during the next maintenance window but I'd note that from a UI perspective that's in a horrible place. To find it, get on the server desktop and run the Advanced Alert Manager, then open the Active Alerts tab (blue triangle with ! on the…
