  • I like this list and wanted to echo jds thoughts. I was looking for #4 today and saw this post so I figured I'd also request it along these other ideas. BB
  • BK...I tired both ur suggestions. Like u said it isn't snazy but it works. I think it would be real nice and easy to do is create these view filters and just have a drop-down box to use them. Thanks again. BB
  • Thanks BK....this is a workaround for us. We use the syslogs off the Orion site now and not worry about logging into the server it self. It would be nice if we could write our our "view filters" and have them as a drop down option on the site or even in the application itself. Thansk again. BB
  • We use Network Observer from Network Instruments.....good product....I know OPNET is very $$$. BB
  • I can't even get it to work on my test server. It installs fine and when I run it I see a quick DOS window and it goes away and that's it. BB
  • Chris, I upgraded to NCM last night and loaded the integration module. I changed this file and the web site won't come up. I had to delete the file and use the old file to get it back up. See attached. Bryan
  • If you have the money I recommend NetQoS RepoterAnalyzer product. Very cool tool. BB
  • quote:Originally posted by kc5aug Does anyone have any advice on the best way to decommission a device, while still holding on to at least the last configuration for archival purposes? The way we did it set up Cirrus to mirror the backup configs to a server. Once that's done you can remove it from Cirrus but the configs…
  • If you have a Cisco device....they have global and interface commands to keep the indexes the same (persistance) even after a reboot : Global : snmp-server ifindex persist Per Interface : snmp ifindex persist That should help. BB
  • Bump...now that V5 is out this still needs to be addressed. BB
  • I would also say most US providers offer 0 cir FR connections. They all say they can run at port speed/0 cir and not drop packets. You can also deploy a QoS (Quality of Service) strategy that can prioritize applications on those lower speed links. BB
  • Yes...please use the All Nodes - Tree (AJAX) view which allows you to group nodes using 3 levels of nesting. As Miron as stated use the Custom Property editor to create those columns to group on. That should fix your problem. BB
  • The key to manage Sun/Linux flavors is net-snmp. If you search the forum from net-snmp you'll see people have had a lot of different issues monitoring these types of servers because of the net-snmp version they used. I think some versions are better than others. Assuming net-snmp is right then you can monitor anything…
  • quote:Originally posted by Josh Stephens We're currently working to expand our labs and need your input. We would like to hear from you with regards to the types of equipment that you're using in your network, especially if that equipment is hard to manage using SolarWinds software. Thanks in advance for the information.…
  • This is assuming that the SN is in a MOB somewhere....that is not the case all the time. There are an number of Cisco routers that do not have that information in the MIB. BB
  • Well...I upgraded last night and pointed about half our devices to the server and it looks good so far. I do not notice any slowness. The CPU/Memory on the server looks good. I haven't point any core stuff including firewalls to it yet...maye next week. BB
  • By far adding/deleting nodes and interfaces. BB
  • I can understand them raising the prices but I think common courtesy is to notify the customers that a change was coming...not just dropping a bomb like this when you go to renew it. BB
  • There is an IIS URL Scan tool that can potentially block things from running. In out case, because we secure these servers down, URL Scan was blocking all .exe files from being run. And in order to get the right-click working you have to let swtoolset.exe run from the site. You will see something like this in…
  • This was posted by amata and this was what I had to do as well after talking to support : I have problems with the advanced alerts for a long time, but solarwinds finally give me the solution. I don`t know if it`s going to work for other people but maybe help someone. For starters please make sure that .Net Framework 2.0…
  • Bump...I see increasing # of threads of customers asking how to tell what service packs they have installed. I'm hoping this is an easing thing to do. I would suggest on the polling engine page you put the service pack, add-ons and add-on service packs list under each polling engine. BB
  • That's currently not working as an advanced alert in V8 at this time. You can only get it to work like it should as a basic alert. BB
  • I think the sorting issue is an easy fix. That's what you have in Orion when you add a device to the Systems Manager. It's kind of difficult to locate a device in Cirrus...should be a no brainer. Can ETA on when Cirrus and Orion will be 1? Thanks. BB
  • quote:Originally posted by maustin BB, In regards to number 4, is the telnet session character based, menu driven? I had to script the menu navigation for our Cisco VPN 3000's down to TFTP'ing the CONFIG files to a remote file server. It's menu navigation. BB
  • Current DB size is 10.5GB. I do have the jobs in to compact the DB. I'm currently running 30/30 for max interface/node polls per sec and max stat collections per second. Thanks. BB
  • I see it available for download under my account but I'm being prompted for username/password. BB
  • As I said in the Cirrus thread.....NetScaler load balancers & Cisco VPN appliances like the 3030s. BB
  • What interfaces show this unknown state? Can you post the SNMP config for your firewalls (you can remove the IPs if you like). BB
  • quote:Originally posted by MRoberts I upgraded to Ver8 for the EE and 7.7 Orion but not able to access the toolsets from the web yet....not sure if another tab is suppose to pop up when you mouse over a node or the options for toolsets should be on the page. How do you guys access the toolset from the web?? I must mention…
