Orion is not a packet analysis tool. At best you can monitor utilizations on the interfaces, cpu and memory. BB

This is in the works for SW I think but not ready anytime soon. Why is it a tough sell to remote into the server to add devices? How often are you adding/deleting/changing devices? We have over 700 nodes and using a terminal server session isn't a big deal. BB

Alot of good suggestions in here. One of the things I really need is Cisco SAA functionality. In Ciscoworks they had the Internetwork Performance Manager where I could set up pings between devices using ICMP/SNMP/VoIP etc. I want to trend the latency between different WAN connections. Thanks. BB

Mark, In order for any interface to show up status-wise on the parent map it has to be placed on a sub map. You can't just have the node on the map. BB

One frustrating thing with syslog is the auto-refresh of the messages. If you have a filter or your looking at some particular device the auto-refresh knocks all of that away and you have to set your filters up again. I know you can disable auo-refresh but its good for your node status. It would be nice to have a check-box…

Just thought of another one : I'd like to see an alert availabe that says if my cpu on a device changes more than X percent send an alert. For instance if I know the firewall runs at 50% and for some reason it jumps to 80% I should be able to configure an alert that says greater or equal to 30% alert me. B

Thanks NG...we do have EE on the server but it would be nice to do all of that in Orion. Proxy ping does not allow for publishing to a web site. As for people posting about Netflow...Solarwinds is working with NetQoS to provide that functionality. They expect to announce the details soon. Bryan

I know Orion shows latency but thats between the server and the device. It would be great if you can set up IP pairs that Orion can track latency. This would be equal to what Cisco does with it's IPM (Internetwork Performance Monitor). I want to see the latency on a frame connect between 2 offices.

I believe the file in question is encoded at the moment (/NetPerfMon/view.asp), but that is where the code is that handles this section of the pages. I believe the next version (8.1) of Orion will not have the pages encoded (don't quote me on this) but if that is the case you should be able to easily edit this out.

You should be able to change it under the interface details. You can manually change the vlaues there. BB

I'm having the same sorts of issues (posted in another thread) when my vales for ${inBps}, ${OutBps} and ${Status} do not look the way they are suppose to. In V7 and used in a basic alert they work fine. BB
