I would really love to see a CiscoWorks IPM-like product built into Orion utilizing Cisco SLA where you can set up ping/tcp tests between any devices like 2 ends of a serial connection. BB

Hi Bryan, Thanks for the feedback. Good input. All issues you highlight are specific to a multi-poller environment, correct? Andy Yes in my case. We have multiple servers so the headaches I listed above make the installation/upgrade process take longer than we hoped. BB

I upgraded last night and I still only see that one template. I don't see where you can put in custom text into the trap like you can do under basic alerts. BB

I'll ask a specific question on roadmap. Will EOC also manage Cirrus/NCM servers down the road? BB

Thanks Dave....I did what you suggested. Here are some thoughts : * Upgrading multiple servers is a huge pain, constantly having to upgrade one and stop the services again so I can go to the 2nd box * I was very surprised that the database part was really quick...I have 12K elements and it was done in like 30 seconds *…

We were finally able to fix this issue last weekend. It required an unistall and reinstall on Microsoft .NET 3.5. We actually went to 3.51 SP1. Then a reboot of the SQL server. I re-ran the configuration wizard on my Orion servers and we were back in business. Been fine all week. Hope that helps. Bryan

The mobile app really needs an update. I has not been updated since Jan. 2011. Needs a more robust ipad app.

Haven't heard much about EOC for months. When is the next release? Is search for interface coming in the new release? BB

I have tried to install voip hotfix for v1 but I am getting an error Installing Patch Stopping Service Copying files to C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\ Error: Unable to copy files to install directory. (Error Code: 0) This hotfix installer encountered an error replacing files. Please stop any running VoIP Monitor and…

The install files labeled "Pollers" are the remote pollers. The difference between them and the full product (IE SLX version) is that the pollers only SNMP/ICMP. The full version has the web site, map maker, report writer and the snmp/icmp polling engine included. So you'll see differences in prices. The pollers can be…

This has to do with the dhcp option because I had the same issue on Windows servers that are down too. BB

Yeah....I don't see a 9.2 on the portal yet...was that a typo? How do I get these sepearte installs? BB

We want a better way to export the configs to a different server. All you can do is archive it to a drive attached to your server. It would be nice to be able to scp the archive to a different server. BB
-
We don't at this time. That's why I hope they evolve the application so this can be done. BB

I had this issue when I was running NPM/Cirrus in a VMware environment. At the time I couldn't tell if my network devices were being fickle or if it was something with the virtualization or the constant 60% to 80% load the server was reporting. I moved to a real server with more resources and haven't had a problem since.…

1. Yes - SSH 2. Yes - we have TACACS enabled so all device access from Cirrus uses a specific TACACS username/password. 3. Since day 1 I have been unable to get 1 job to backup both running and starting configs. I'm not sure which job is causing the problem. I have a separate Failed Login Report that runs every night. BB

I've been running 9.0 SP2 for quite some time. I just upgraded NCM last night. BB

Current % is the value at the last time you polled. Default is 5 minutes put you change that. One other thought I is if you sent 300Mbps in 1 burst it is possible that Orion polled the interface before or after your test. If you verify your polling interval and can send that much data constantly then you should see it.
-
Checked this today and I still can't get the file. I get an FTP error : 550 /sar05: Access is denied.
-
Ok...that looks normal. By any chance have you upgraded this PIXs recently? I know with newer versions the interface names may change and Orion will report them unknown. I would verify the list resources shows the proper interfaces and check only the ones your interested in. BB

We are testing EOC 1.4RC1 now and looks like the capability is there. I'm assuming if we just upgrade to EOC1.4 then NPM 10.4 will work with EOC? TY

You added that for the main Orion version and SP. You still need a location to put the Add-on versions and their SPs. I think this all can be added to the polling engine page. BB

I'd like to see the upper banner (Orion Network Performance Monitor) color match the colors on the page...like steel blue, army green, etc. And it would be nice to put text in the space to the right of that in that open space. Like a server name or something along that line. BB

Hi, For Orion v9.x, is there a bonafide document stating the inbound and outbound rules, and source and destination definitions, needed for port 17777. Is the Solarwinds server the source address, and the monitored server the destination address? It seems there are a lot of persons asking questions regarding this... thank…
-
To be on the safe side what directories would you back up? What's a good back out plan to go back to 8.1? BB
-
So without buying another add-on, I cannot see my interface IP addresses? Not really. Orion is monitoring the management IP you choose for your devices. It's not designed to "inventory" per say all the router IPs in a particular box. That's why they created Cirrus as a companion tool. It has the inventory piece, etc. BB

Is this a menu driven VPN? I have the Cisco VPN3030 and it's menu driven to get the file. I have a ticket open with support to write a template for this. I opened it back in mid-December and haven't gotten anything back yet. BB
-
Cirrus also has a switch port mapping like tool where you can search for a ip/mac address/hostname. BB
-
This is a weird one. We have 2 switches running the same code...one shows the vlan info like you have, the other does not. BB
-
I can....but I still have that question. Typically for those of us who have remote pollers that do not have the web server running on them we get a service-only install file and a 2nd web-only install file to add the updated web site pages. Please clarify on what to do here. Thanks. BB
