Well, Orion is finally working properly once again, so it will be a matter of time to see if that also corrected the SQL problem. At least now I can poll through the web interface and see the charts for response times, so goo chance that is all it takes.

You have to spend time to fine tune the alerts to limit the amount of junk you get. I also found that I can write a report for alert history based on the neighbor down in report Writer, which gives me a readout of downed events over 7 days. It is a daunting task, but once you weed out the noise, it is worth it.
