NPM server installation on Hyper V

Hi ,

I installed NPM and APM on Hyper V server and SQL on another Hyper V server on the same host machine. Dedicated seperate Network cards for NPM andSQL severs. However , I notice that the response time to managed nodes is high (>2000 ms) from NPM server. Anyone has faced this issue before? Anyone has experience on installing NPM on Virtual servers? Your help is appreciated..

Question: Did you install SQL on the same machine as either your NPM or your VM? This can slow things down tremendously.

SQL installed on a seperate VM on the same host machine. (means NPM on VM01 and SQL on VM02 on same physical server) .Will this effect performance?

Yes, it can affect the performance tremendously. Here's the information in the On-line Admin Guide:

Best thing to do is to install the SQL on another physical server.
