Alert notifications not working after upgrade to NPM 10.2

After tweaking all of my alerts to get exactly what I wanted, I upgraded NPN from 10.1 to 10.2. Now the email and SMS basic alerts are not working. Web status shows correct UP / DOWN status of all devices. Test of alerts work fine for both SMS and EMail. But when a device status changes from Down to Up or vice-versa, not automatic alert is generated. I did restart the alert service. No change. Anyone else see this?

We have seen a few similar cases like this before. Please try this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolarWinds.net\Alert Manager\Settings,Disable Alert Actions

Set to false or delete entirely.

If this still does not correct the problem, I would suggest opening a support ticket.

Should this not be controlled by the checkbox in the Advanced Alerts GUI?? From the testing I've done, this is not working. So I'm not so sure that modifying a registry entry is the best solution for turning on and off Advanced alerts, is it? It would seem more like a bug to me.

Yes, there is some kind of bug in 10.2. This was in Basic Alerts, not Advanced, and the checkbox there did nothing. After having this work for a while, I had a new problem where basic alerts got stuck in a queue, and I needed to send a test alert message to flush them out.

I ultimately disabled all Basic Alerts and changed everything to Advanced Alerts. Working fine so far.
