IP SLA Mngr - option to specify source interface

hello,

I've used IP SLA Monitor, about to install evail of IP SLA Mngr, one question:

- is there a way to specify the source interface when configuring IP SLA parameters? I know this is not possible with IP SLA Monitor, so curious if this option is available with IP SLA Mngr.

for example, the WAN interface IP subnet is not being advertised over the WAN, so IP SLA Monitor would give an error, so using ip sla or rtr commands we had to manually set to source of LAN interface.

By default we use the ip address that Orion knows about. We do allow you to specify the source ip address by editing the node properties in the ip sla node admin area.

If you are on the IP SLA summary view, click on IP SLA Manager Settings
Click on Manage IP SLA Nodes
Check the node you want to change the IP address of
Click "Edit Node" in the toolbar

You can now specify the Source IP Address. This will set the source IP Address for any operations created on that device.

We realize this is kind of hidden at the moment. We will try to make it more obvious.

Could you elaborate on how you would use this? Specifically, in your example, would you ever need to set different source IP's for different operations on the same node?

Would this also alter the IP address which Orion manages the device? For example, if I wanted to manage a router on network A but source SLA probes from Network B.

Yes, it would; however, we have added functionality in the next release that will allow you to do this on a per operation basis as opposed to globally on the node.

We are currently expanding our IPSLA Operations setup and have run into a small snag. For IPSLA VoIP operations we are required to specify an IP address that is not resident on the Cisco ISR. The IP address we are required to use is in an IP range that will ensure the TOS settings are maintained across the WAN. This is important as we are measuring VoIP performance in an expedited forwarding VLAN.

Unfortunately, these operations were already created using a source IP address that does not maintain the TOS settings.

Orion offers the ability to a single edit or bulk edit of source IP addresses in the "Manage IP SLA Operations". Unfortunately, if I attempt to change the source IP on one or many of these operations I get the error "Such IP Address does not exist within selected node"

I also get this error if I edit an IPSLA Node and attempt to change the IP address to the desired IP.

However, if I create a brand new operation (on an existing IPSLA node) I am able to set a source IP address that is not associated with any interface on the IPSLA node.

Can someone offer any clarity on this? I'd really like the ability to edit the source address on existing operations.
