2022.3 Platform upgrade - how?

Hi,

I have seen mention of the an available upgrade to the 2022.3 platform. Can someone tell me how to upgrade to it? If I check the 'My Orion Deployment' section of the console, there are no upgrades available.....?

For information, we are currently on the latest 2020.2.6 NPM HF3 and SAM HF4 so i'm assuming we're 'ready' for the upgrade, but it doesn't appear.

Please can someone advise?

You should have the online and offline download available in your Solarwinds portal. I used the offline .iso file and completed my upgrade in Dev yesterday. It looks different but preformed reasonably fast and easy. However, I've 'lost' my HA configuration and the location of the website root directory seems to be hard coded to a new directory. Still trying to get the bottom of those issues.

Running the offline on the main poller should resolve the issue, then you'll have the option to upgrade the other pollers within the UI.

Hi Im still fairly new to SolarWinds Im seeing the same as SGregory when I go to My Orion Deployment. I understand I must download from customer portal. Im a bit confused but my question are we forced to buy or install the Hybrid Cloud Obervability. Or is this optional and will I still need to configure NTA and Log Analyser?

I agree that it is confusing. My understanding is that Solarwinds Platform and Hybrid Cloud Observability are still two different products. And yes there is a 3rd branch of product now called Solarwinds Observability. If you have an old installation, that is probably what they use to call Orion Platform (with NTA and LA) and will now be known as Solarwinds Platform (with NTA and LA).

I'm running into the same issue, currently on 2020.2.6, not latest HF. If I go to the Updates & Evaluations tab on My Orion Deployment it says I'm set to install 2020.2.6 HF versions. Do you have to be on the latest HF for this to register the upgrade? I can download on the customer portal, but if I do the Check Version Compatibility & Upgrade Path I don't even get the option to select 2022.3. I thought being able to do it through the webpage was supposed to be the new, improved way?

The Orion platform has evolved into the SolarWinds Platform. All the classic modules, bundles and the new HCO run on the SolarWinds Platform. All products are installed and functionality is controlled by licensing.

If you own modules like NPM, NTA, SAM - you can upgrade to 2022.3 or 2022.4, same for NAM, EOC and HCO.

Download the 2022.3 or 2022.4 offline installer from the customer portal and upgrade your MPE first, then you can upgrade other components via the GUI just like normal. Some customers don't see the new versions in Updates and Evaluations, so this is the easiest workaround.

FIrst off What is MPE?

MPE = Main Polling Engine (I assume)

I downloaded the offline installer and ran it against my main polling engine and it upgraded without issue. *Note - There is an additional database you will need to set up for Log Analyzer if you had not previously installed that. Once you have upgraded to the Main Polling Engine go back to My Orion Deployment - Updates and Evaluations and you will be able to finish the additional polling engines from there.

It looks like you may need to look at the log they are referencing and create a ticket if you are stuck.
