We are looking into HCO but want to put it side by side of what we already have as far as modules. What all is included with HCO as an enterprise to see if it would work for us or not?
Both Hybrid Cloud Observability Essentials and Advanced use node-based licensing.
Essentials provide the following set of features:
For those familiar with individual module licenses, this can be considered NPM, SAM, LA, IPAM, UDT, VNQM
Advanced includes all the features of essentials in addition to the following:
Consider these as NCM, VMAN, SCM
The enterprise-scale option for both Essentials and Advanced provides entitlement to additional polling engines, High availability, web servers, and EOC.
WPM and Storage Monitor are not licensed by HCO currently. They still can run and be upgraded in the same orion/solarwinds instance. BUT they still require their current licensing model.
Hi Jimmy,
I found this in one of solarwinds slide.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
I just checked your image and saw that the SEM and ARM appears as included in the pdf but not really, it may be integrated when you already have it. What does not appear in this pdf is Toolset but it is already included.
Here is the HCO of my infrastructure with the features included in the HCO Advanced Enterprise Scale before integrating with the other Solarwinds solutions:
Here is a screenshot I took of the demo environment with the Essentials License:
In addition, you can have a separate license for SRM, WPM (Both Advanced and Enterprise) for your HCO and also integrate with Patch Manager, DPA, SEM, ARM.
I hope it will help a little
When HCO was first launched last year, I did a comparison piece you may find helpful: https://orangematter.solarwinds.com/2022/05/19/orion-platform-hybrid-cloud-observability/. Here's the most relevant bit to your question:
Now, there have been updates since then including the launch of security in HCO. You can find details of that integration here from the Product Manager. You'll see that there are requirements for licensing of relevant SEM and ARM as well as at least HCO Advanced for that integration.
Further, there are some feature differences between the Orion modules and the HCO products, so I encourage you to check out the announcement posts in the HCO forum and/or the release notes for details.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
I wonder if you could add an additional webserver to Advanced without buying enterprise-scale?
^^^ This!! Couldn't have answered it better myself!
