SolarWinds Expands its Platform Capabilities to Include Root Cause Assist Capability
SolarWinds announced the expansion of its platform capability portfolio with the Root Cause Assist feature today. The Root Cause Assist (RCA) capability improves the troubleshooting experience for the customers by providing rich contextual information. By doing the automated analysis of the relevant information, the RCA capability significantly reduces the MTTI (Mean Time to Identify) and MTTR (Mean Time to Resolution) for the users, helping them be one step ahead in their IT monitoring and management.
In the Observability world, getting paged over an issue out of the blue or seeing a bunch of alerts suddenly going off is relatively standard. However, to identify the problem and resolve the issue at hand faster, it is critical to understand where to start the investigation and prioritize the correct information. With the ever-increasing complexity of today's customer environments and the associated volume of information, the process of investigation and resolution is becoming slower. This is where the RCA capability comes in handy.
When the RCA is triggered, it automatically collects all the relevant data, including metrics, alerts, anomalies, change events, etc., for the source and all the related entities. At the heart of the RCA capability is an AI/ML-powered event correlation engine. The correlation engine automatically identifies causal relationships between the events collected across all entities and gives a detailed analysis with context and concrete starting points for investigation and resolution. The analysis is available to the user within a minute of triggering the RCA feature, thus making it valuable for real-time troubleshooting use cases.

We are currently enabling the root cause assist feature under the entity groups. The entity groups provide a reliable and exclusive way for users to group functionally related entities and leverage them. Users can trigger the RCA feature for any health degradation event of their choice or concern in a particular group. As part of the RCA capability release, we have revamped the experience of the entity groups themselves. We have evolved the entity groups to independently give all the context users would want about the entities, making them self-sufficient and extremely valuable for the users.
