Unable to Delete SAM Templates from Nodes

SAM Template shows that it is assigned to x number of Nodes in the "Application Monitor Templates" tab. I click on the link for the x number of Nodes to see which nodes have the template assigned. All of the nodes show up here correctly. I click on the "Assigned Application Monitors" tab, the nodes are nowhere to be found, even if I filter by template name. I can go to the Node itself and see the template is applied and has an "Unknown" status.

Templates are assigned but there is apparently no way to delete them without it showing up in the "Assigned Application Monitors" tab. Is there another way?? I have several nodes with templates assigned in an Unknown status that I cannot clean up.

@LatteLarry, How comfortable are you with SWQL and using verbs with PowerShell? Depending on what data is actually in the tables themselves you could potentially do this by developing queries to define the desired applications to delete since it seems like the web console is all jacked up. You'll have to develop a query to return a list of the ApplicationID's that need to be deleted and then you can execute a DeleteApplciation verb to delete them. Below is an example PS Script that contains both a query (the query as is looks for all applications in an "Unkown" status) and use the same verb to delete the returned applications

I have seen situations like this a couple of times last month at different customers. One time the link between the application and the template was gone. The other time the template was removed but the application remained.

First time, when I looked at the application in SAM I just got errors. I then had to go into the database and add a valid templateID for that application.

Second time, application in SAM looked just fine. In "Assigned Application Montitors" I had to remove any "group by" and scroll to the application and there I could delete it.

This seems to be occurring, at least for me, when a component in the application template is deleted while the application template is still applied to nodes. I think there may be a few other causes, but I know for sure this is one of the causes for me. I'm going to open a support request so this can be put on their radar as a possible bug.

This is great, thanks! I'll have a look at this. I have a coworker that is strong in Powershell and SQL, so he can help me along. I do also want to open a support request about this so if this is a potential bug it can be addressed. In search THWACK for a solution I did notice that other people seem to be having this same problem.
