NetAPP monitoring - Help!!!

We had a missed replication event, which has started some interesting in enchanced monitoring.

I see that SolarWinds has an extensive OID database, and I was trying to create a custom poller.

for example SnapMirrorStatus OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.9.20.1.5, returns a table with different values. I have

seen values 1 and 2.

My aim is to generate an alert if a SnapMirror replication fails to occur.

No where can I find a document that defines what those values are. Taling with NetAPP support, they seem to

have no clue. They seem to be wanting for me to use traps, which I do not want to go.

Does anyone know if there is any docuementation regarding result values for NetAPP OIDs?

Hi,

It seems you did the right thing by asking NetAPP support regarding this, so if they have no information to give you for the kind of OID you want, then maybe its something for them to work on and include on a newer MIB release. They should be able to provide you this, being the support and all.

If you do a search here for "NetApp" you'll see there are a few custom pollers. You may be able to customize those to help you out. I'm still new to NetApp, but you may be able to query for the event success/failure from the SNMP trap and/or syslogs then develop an alert off of that

Forgive the large JPEG but here are the results of the pollers from Thwack. It seems to be working well with our NetApp arrays though we haven't had any hardware problems yet.

Have you evaluated Storage Manager for it's SnapMirror monitoring capabilities? You can find the SnapMirror monitor in the left hand navigation pane underneath "Monitors" - SolarWinds - Storage Manager
