In the SAM, not all the services that are running on a Windows server are displayed by the Service Control Manager. They are also not all available when creating a template with Component Monitor Wizard. Any ideas?
By default, it only shows 25 services per page. I assume you've looked at the other pages to make sure that they're aren't there?
Does this issue only effect one server or multiple?
The Service Control Manager displays all the services on a single page. The Component Monitor Wizard displays 25 per page.
It appears the problem is we are using this box in a server role but the OS in Win 7 Pro. There are 3 services that I know of that are not showing up. There could be more I am not going to take the time to match up everyone of them. Interestingly, the description field is blank for the all 3 of the ones that do not show up. I checked a couple of servers that were running a server OS. They appear to list all the services correctly. But the description fields were populated for all the services.
Is the credential you're using for this machine in SAM a member of the Administrators group on the Win7 PC?
Do you have any comfort/proficiency with PowerShell? Other wise wbemtest will be your friend to make sure the Orion server can talk to that PC over WMI with the specified credential.
Are the 3 missing services you know of native to Windows or are they part of something installed on the server?
I am pretty sure it is something about windows 7. Yes it is a domain admin. I will write a custom script monitor for them. I have written a lot of WBEM / WMI code. They are not native windows services. They are from an application install.
Thanks for the help.
