Automating Application Creation

Question

I'm fairly new to Solarwinds and have created an application and application monitors for all my SQL Server nodes to watch for status of the services. There are other monitors I want to create with different time intervals but I don't want to waste my time manually creating it and adding 150 nodes. I'm pretty good with Powershell and immediately thought there must be a way to create the application and use powershell to add the nodes. I've not been able to find any information on the schema sufficient to allow me to do this. Does anyone have information on the steps that would be needed to automate this?

Here's a snippet from the script I run, let me know if it helps;

If ($NodeType -eq 'SNMP') {
   $applicationId = (Invoke-SwisVerb $swis "Orion.APM.Application" "CreateApplication" @(
   $NodeID,
   TEMPLATE ID,
   CREDENTIAL,
   "true"
  )).InnerText

If ($NodeType -eq 'WMI') {
   $applicationId = (Invoke-SwisVerb $swis "Orion.APM.Application" "CreateApplication" @(
   $NodeID,
   TEMPLATE ID,
   CREDENTIAL,
   "true"
  )).InnerText

This automatically adds a template we have based on Linux/Windows. Where it has TEMPLATE ID and CREDENTIAL you'll need to replace based on your monitors.
