Hi,
Would like to ask if someone here already monitored the iPlanet Proxy Server? What template do you use? Or does anyone here have the iPlanet Template?
Thank you.
There is not an iPlanet out-of-the-box application template, nor one shared in the Content Exchange. It's relatively easy to create your own application templates if so desired. Out of curiosity, what OS are you running iPlanet on, and to your knowledge are you aware of a downloadable trial/eval of the iPlanet Proxy server somewhere?
Hello aLTeReGo,
Unfortunately, the iPlanet is also new to us. And my client would like to monitor this application too that runs on Solaris10.
Likely the best and simplest way to monitor the iPlanet performance and availability would be using an HTTP or HTTPS User Experience Monitor configured to use the iPlanet server as a proxy. This will give you visibility into how quickly page loads are occurring through the iPlant Proxy Server, as well as insight into availability (up/down) of the iPlanet application.
Hi aLTeReGo,
Here's what they would like to monitor:
ConnectionQueue
ListenSocket http-listener-1
ListenSocket http-listener-1-SSL
KeepAliveInfo
SessionCreationInfo
CacheInfo
Native pools
DNSCacheInfo
Performance Counters
Sessions
and how many connections that currently used.
I think the iplanet proxy is like a squid.
Anyway, I'll try to check also the template you've recommended to me
If you manage to find a downloadable trial version of iPlanet Proxy Server feel free to post the link here and I'll see what type of information can be obtained.
Unfortunately, I can't find also a free downloadable software. But I still hoping that we could still provide any other way to monitor this iplanet.
Have you tried using the Component Monitor Wizard and creating your own application template? My understanding is that iPlanet exposes some information via JMX, but without access to the application it's hard to know for sure.
yes! but unfortunately, their iplanet is not using java application
