Cisco VPN Concentrator and unwanted SNMP traffic from Solarwinds using 'public'

we have a Cisco VPN Concentrator which Solarwinds monitors with SNMP.

and the hardcoded SNMP string used (example only) is 'BIGPRIVATE' but Solarwinds also polls this device with using 'public' and i don't know why it is using 'public'.

by polling it with 'public' (which is not set on the device) it continuously generates this event message below:

35420 02/11/2009 07:59:56.600 SEV=3 SNMP/6 RPT=16362 10.165.210.219

Received SNMP request with unsupported community string 'public'

my question is: how do i stop Solarwinds from polling this device with 'public' thus stopping these messages?

NOTE: i do have IP ADDRESS MANAGEMENT continously running and this VPN device is on one of those subnets, could IP MANAGEMENT be trying to use 'public'?

How often are you seeing these entries on your VPM Concentrator?

It could very well be the toolset IP Address Manager, default 'public' is populated OOTB, if go to the IP Address Manager and select Settings, the first tab will have SNMP Community Strings and whether or not the tool should use SNMP or not.

after you had asked 'how often' i then turned around asked our engineer and he said they had stopped.

...but i had not changed anything in Solarwinds...go figure?!
