Hi, After installing Log and Event Manager Reports, while running a report, its showing this error: Logon failed. Error code: -2147189176, What is this error and how can it be resolved so I can run reports?
Your log includes this error:
"You are attempting to use functionality that falls under the Business Objects Report Creation API license. This system does not have a valid license, or the evaluation copy of the license has expired. Please contact Business Objects to obtain a Report Creation API license"
We usually see this when the Crystal Reports Runtime wasn't installed as an Administrator on Windows 7 or newer. You need to explicitly choose the "Run as Administrator" option for this installer to work correctly.
Please remove the Crystal Reports Runtime 11 and reinstall it as an Administrator, and then try Reports again.
Reports also needs to be installed as an Administrator, so you may want to reinstall that too.
You can find both the Crystal Reports Runtime installer and the Reports installer on this page: SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Additional LEM downloads for version 6.0
Some additional info, please:
Can you attach that file to the thread?
Thanks Curtisi for the response.
Here are the answers for your questions:
I am right now using the evaluation product and I have 19 more days till expiry.
1. version of reports : 6.0.0.1
2. version of LEM: 6.0.0.1
3. I tried doing what you have suggested, but still getting error : logon failed while trying to run reports.
I have attached the SWLEMReports.log file herewith. Is this something to do with licensing?
Thankyou so much for the help.
Thanks Curtisi,
I have reinstalled the Crystal reports runtime as administrator, as well as the reports.
Now I am getting this error: Logon failed. Details: [Database Vendor Code:210].
I have followed the instructions on--> SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: LEM Reports Error: "Logon failed. Database Vendor Code 210" but still getting the same error.
Please help.
I have installed both the Crystal Reports Runtime and the LEM Reports using a Domain Administrator account and I am still getting the Logon failed. Error code: -2147189176 .
Can you enable the logging and paste the output here?
Here is the errorlog... it appears to be having trouble creating a table?
What version is the LEM that you're connecting with?
In Reports, can you confirm that that the "Configuration --> Managers and Credentials" is pointing to the right IP and using the right user name?
The username needs to be one that is in the LEM (look under Build --> Users in the LEM console) that has the Admin or Reports role. Re-enter the credentials, then click the Green + sign, then close and try the report again.
I have tried hostname, FQDN, and IP address. I am using my LEM account, which is an Admin.
LEM is running 6.0.0
Reports version 6.0.1.7
Ah ha! There's the rub.
You either need to upgrade the LEM to 6.0.1 or downgrade Reports to 6.0.0. Personally, I'd upgrade the LEM.
Had the same issue.
I've tried /L and it doesn't work either. Reports does not create any log file.
I have a Domain administrator rights but Reports has to be explicitly "run as Administrator" to work properly.
When started Reports with "Run as Administrator" option Error- "Logon failed. Error code -2147189176" has gone.
Happy thwacking.
I have done this, but I still get the same error.
One more thing which I did to fix it. Not sure if it does any help.
I've tried to reinstall "SolarWinds-LEM-v6.1.0-ReportsAndCrystal" package.
It is appeared that once uninstalled "Crystal reports" could not be installed again from the same package.
No matter was installation started with "Run as Administrator" option or not. So I
1. Uninstalled the both Reports and Crystal
2. Installed separately "SolarWinds-LEM-v6.0.1-CrystalReportsRuntime" and "SolarWinds-LEM-v6.1.0-Reports" . No matter are you administrator or not explicitly use option "Run as Administrator" to install packages.
Hope it could help.
Correction to previous.
2. Even thou you are administrator you must explicitly use option "Run as Administrator" to install those packages.
