Is there a way to update the inventory to include versions of IE?
Thanks
The hardware/software inventory gathers information on installed software, which captures what is in Add/Remove Programs (or Programs and Features as it is referred to in some Operating Systems). Internet Explorer does not show up there; it is more integrated with the OS.
It *is* possible (although it is not enabled by default) to pull information on particular registry keys as well as particular files or directories during the inventory of client machines. Therefore, if you can identify a registry key/file/directory that would indicate the presence of each specific Internet Explorer version you are interested in, you can report on that.
Unless you have a very specific need there should only be a possibility of 2 versions of IE. IE9 for Windows Vista and IE11 for everything else. Those are the only 2 supported browsers from Microsoft. If you are up to date on patches you should be fine.
I answered that a while back in this thread. How to inventory Internet Explorer?
