HA Setup using F5

We have a setup where Primary and Secondary servers are in different subnet. Creating a HA using Microsoft DNS was not approved by our Security. Hence I am trying to setup HA using F5.

Would really appreciate if someone can share a step by step guide on how to configure HA using F5.

What configuration has to be done on F5 and on Solarwinds application.
What options has to be chosen on Solarwinds for DNS type. Will it be "Other"?
Does Virtual hostname has to be name of the URL used to access the web console?
Which IP address the URL for Solarwinds console be pointing to.
How additional polling engine will be configured to always point to active server.

Please guide on this setup.

Hey there @max348,

There's lots of ways to do it but it's pretty straight forward and I can share my experience and implementation around it.

How I've inplemented it in the past:

Qty (2) AWS (Additional Web Servers) or more depending on preference
Create a vIP DNS name that points at and is hosted by the F5 Pool
TCP ports 443 / 17777 and ICMP/ping pool member health check (change tcp 443 depending on web config or add 80)
Ensure sticky session configuration

There's definitely other ways to set it up and different configurations of servers to do etc., but thats your basics.
