Ping Test on Multiple nodes using powershell

You are reusing $names and $hostnames incorrectly in a few places. Try this:

$names = get-content "C:\hostnames.txt"
foreach ($name in $names) {
if (Test-Connection -ComputerName $name -Count 1 -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue) {
write-host "$name is up" -ForegroundColor Green
}
else {
write-host "$name is down" -ForegroundColor Red
}
}

Just noticed that I missed a hypen in front of the "-Count" parameter. Fixed my original reply.

Hello

we want to use Powershell to Ping the multiple Load balancer in our environment and save the out put in text file with time stamp.

script will continue run in backend for few days .

This is for troubleshooting purpose as our load balancer monitored by Solarwinds NPM SNMP is sending false laram and we are suspecting that this is due to some network congestion

Requesting your guidance as I am new in Powershell script

What sort of false alarms are you receiving?

Ping won't tell you much about congestion...as latency can be attributed to various things.

Refer Screen as it come for short duration and odd time we are not able to troubleshoot
