Having different views using a single account.

Question

Hi,

I am using Orion 9.1.0 SP2.

Would like to know is there any way for a user to see 2 different "Node Details" views using the same account? For example, my account has a default "Node Details" view named "Node Details". But other than this, I would to also access another "Node Details" view named "Node Traffic". Both views have very different resources.

I understand currently I am only allowed to set 1 default view under Account Manager. But anyone knows a way out? like adding an extend, customizing...

Hmmmm...

Based on your description of your node details view, it doesn't sound like it should take an exceptional amount of time to load. Of course, it also depends on which charts you're loading and the time period associated them. I've attached a snapshot of the resources we have on our default node details view and it generally loads between 3-5 seconds. The only times we see noticeably longer load times is when dealing with a device with a lot of interfaces, or if there has been an exceptionally high number of syslog messages through which it has to parse.

I would hope to have different views, simply because of convenience. Firstly, it will be a bother to have to log out and login just for the different views, and then a separate account need to be setup - ie another set of username and password. I am currently using EOC, and with 3 Orion servers. It is definately very annoying for users to do that for all 3. Tried to look upon EOC for a All-In-One solution, but no luck. I also had several custom properties for my Nodes, hence if I were to display all the stuff I want on a single page, it will take pretty long. Even now, with just the Nodes detail, custom properties and a few charts, it is taking quite some time to load. I'm used to the loading speed already tho ;)

I have also looked at the mouse-over feature mentioned. Sounds very very interesting, probably will try it out when I'm freed from my projects. My team actually mentioned something about mouseover feature some time back. But then I wonder again about the time Orion will take to load the mouseover image...

Yeah, that's the drawback to doing it this way...

I've been playing around with the possibility of using the toolset integration popup menu to include options with links to node details views, but the XML parser doesn't seem to like the "&" in the URL. Or at least I couldn't figure out how to make it work.

I'm a failure... :(

The thought also crossed my mind about possibly using a mouseover option like the one mentioned in this post , but I haven't tried it. Also, I ran into an issue with this when first looking into it where it breaks the toolset integration.

Out of curiosity, why do you need to have discreet views as opposed to having all the resources on a single view? Is it an issue with the amount of time it takes to load all the resources on a single page? Personally, I like having all pertinent info displayed on a single page, but again, it depends on what resources we're talking about, how complex the queries are, and how long it ultimately takes them to load.
