We recently had to unmanage a number of nodes due to maintenance the customer was doing.
Using the Orion V9.1 web interface, I set the un-managed period to be from 17:55 on a Friday until 09:00 on the Sunday morning. I did this in advance, and sure enough the nodes became unmanaged automatically at 17:55 on the Friday.
Then at 09:00 on the Sunday they all came back up as managed devices.
However, what also happened when the devices became managed again was that they all alerted to say they were up, and so did all of the associated interfaces that were being monitored.
This meant that we had 400+ emails arrive, plus a whole bunch of SMS alerts to go along with them. This is not something I want when devices simply become managed again without going down.
What I need to know, is that is this a bug or a feature? If it's a feature, how do I turn it off!
We had to do a similar thing with another customer, but they have yet to be upgrade to V9.1 (They're still on V9.0) but didn't get the same problem, so I'm thinking bug at the moment.
I have a test install of V9 too which I'm trying out a similar scenario on to see what happens.
Anybody else had this, and if so what did you do?
Thanks in advance.
