Are you saying that if I have a OID I can monitor it even if it is not in the Enterprise MIB database? I tried doing that and when I hit 'test' it says the OID isn't supported.

New user, running demo version.
Jon-
If you can browse to the MIB in the Custom MIB browser within Orion, then the MIB is already in our database.
If a message like “OID Not Supported” or “No such name”, comes up it doesn’t mean that we don’t have that MIB in our database, it means that we successfully queried the device and that the device doesn’t support the MIB that you’re querying against. Here are some steps to assist you in creating custom MIB pollers.
Thank you for your quick response. But I can't browse to the MIB. You also mentioned that 'here are some steps to assist you in ........' Where is that? did you forget to include somthing in your post?
thanks again
I have received some MIB's from a vendor that we would like to add and monitor in Orion. I have tried to email them to the address listed in this thread but it keeps getting rejected. Could you please tell me where I can send these MIB's to to get them added to the database?
The email address is:development@solarwinds.net. Apparently, its no longer valid?
Solarwinds has a convoluted mechanism for accepting MIBs from customers.
We've been told to send to developer@solarwinds.com, which bounces.
Their own website FAQ states (as of 4/10/2010) to email them to support@solarwinds.com, which auto-responds telling you to use the support web form, with a handy link to it.
The web form then provides no mechanism to upload or attach files, and the text area is limited to 4000 characters, which isn't enough to copy and paste even a small MIB.
Once you get a response on your case, it states, "If you would like to send us additional information, such as syslogs, screenshots or MIBs, or inquire about the status of this case, please reply to this email."
So, then you can respond back and attach the MIBs.
You *can* also input the OID directly in the UnDP, even name it correctly, but you can't test it there to see if it works, you have to assign it and then see. If it doesn't work, you can't browse to find out if there is one close to that OID that works.
HI Pickerin--
To add you MIB to the SW MIB, post to this thread. The SW MIB is frequently updated with new MIBs and OIDs.
Also, I'll let support know about the issues you raised in your post.

I neet to Monitor Liebert NPower UPS .
I have the MIB files from liebert I just dont know how I ca add them to the database.
AntonioM,
As MarieB stated in an earlier post, post to the Tell us your "Unknown" devices thread, and the SolarWinds MIB will be updated shortly. Usually, MIB updates are posted on a weekly basis.
I've had this happen on a device where it says "OID Not Supported" but I can hit the same device with an SNMPGet and get the same information.
Thoughts?
If you feel you have a MIB that hasn't yet been integrated into our Master MIB, try this first:
- Open the Univesal Device Poller program (Start -> All Programs -> SolarWinds Orion -> Network Performance Monitor -> Universal Device Poller)
- Select NEW UNIVERSAL DEVICE POLLER
- Select Browse MIB Tree
- Select Search MIBs
- Search by NAME (or OID) and then enter the Name or OID into the search field.
- in this case I searched for BdStatsEntry found in the BD.MIB, and it returned this MIB information:
1.3.6.1.4.1.289.2.1.1.51.2.2.1 (BD-MIB:bdStatsEntry)
This would mean the MIB is already integrated into the Orion Master MIB.
If you are not able to find the OID's you are looking for this way then please open a support ticket with NPM support and provide the MIB in your first reply email and let them know you were unable to find any OID's from this MIB. Support will help you get that integrated into our Master MIB.
I'm hoping you can help. I'm trying to add a new Universal Device Poller to poll hardware information such as power supply status for an HP Proliant DL160 G6.
I can download .cfg and .mib files from HP, however, it seems like there would already be a poller for a server such as this.
What am I missing when opening Universal Device Poller and browsing or "walking" the MIB tree?
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you,
Pjc
This is done out of the box in Server and Application Monitor.
this is a non working email address... Please post a working address.
Thanks.
Apologies- that post is a bit old. If you could perhaps open a support ticket and supply the mib, it will be scheduled for inclusion in next mib DB. (SolarWinds Customer Support - We're Here to Help)
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I don't know who handles our Orion support here
(Tulalip Tribes/Tulalip Data Services) so don't want to bug a number of
folks to get them to open a ticket. Attached is the current Metaswtich MIB.
Cheers,
Doug Goodman

Solarwinds charges extensive amounts of money for its products and says it its TOO HARD to import MIB's. I have freeware on Windows and Mac that can import and read MIB's for crying out loud.
If anyone wants a system that's not to big in its britches to listen to customers after 7 years of complains - To take a look at http://wwwveraxsystems.com Its half the cost of SolarWinds, polls and collects same MIB's as anyone else can get, and GUESS WHAT??!!! You can import MIB's individually (Browse, Select, Import) or..wait for it.....................................You can import an entire directory worth of MIB's and it will process them all.
SolarWinds...I dont know how you manage to force customers to send it files less then 1MB in size so they can wait weeks at a time for your updates and then whats their reward?...a DB of over a Gig in size? So just to get the tiny bit of info they need...they have to download a Gig? Or else their alternative is to manually, one at a time type in numbers, descriptions, etc etc to make it work and still be unable to test???
People...start looking elsewhere as I have because 7 years of excuses for something so basic should not be ignored. Its Disgusting is what it is.
Apologies for the frustration sir. Our MIB inclusion process should have relatively swift turn-time. If there is an outstanding request, please let me know the ticket number and we can follow-up straight away. Actually our new v12 beta (NPM 12.0 BETA4 + QOE NOW AVAILABLE) displays related functionality that allows you to map arbitrary OIDs to native Orion fields, which can then be saved as templates and automatically discovered. Check out "Manage Pollers" and "Node Details" pollers:
Hello,
I read earlier in the topic, that the master MIB database is updated every month. Is this still true?
How can i update the database on my Orion server(s)?
I am looking to see if updated MIBs and OIDs exist for the F5 Product.
Thank you in advance.
It is updated on a weekly basis sometimes if there are requests for new MIBs to be added. Have you tried download the MIB database, and searching for the F5 OIDs of interest?
This is an oldie but a goodie - Orion MIB Database – What Is It Good For?
Updated MIB database for the most part is only required for display of SNMP Traps. If you know your OIDs, you can setup the custom pollers without the OIDs being in the MIB database.
