Perplexing problem.... APC device does not show up as APC

Question

I have an APC UPS that shows up as unknown. If I click on the details for it is shows it is an "American Power Conversion Corp" device yet the vendor doesn't reflect this. I checked the MAC address compared to other APC devices and the first 4 octets are the same.

I have tried to rediscover the device - same.

I have also tried to manually force the vendor change in the Nodes table but Orion is to smart for me and won't change it this way.

Any ideas on what is going on and how, if possible, do I fix it?

Did you ever resolve this problem. I have the same issue. The sysobjectid for the unknown ups's is 1.3.6.1.4.1.318

The sysobjectid for the ones that work is 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.3.2.13 I don't see a way to change that.

No I didn't - the first time.

I stopped the NPM service (takes a LONG time to stop) and updated the Vendor to 'American Power Conversion Corp' and it took. I check the Vendor via SQL and it was set.

I checked the sysoidid and it was 1.3.6.1.4.1.318. I compared it to others in the same vendor range and they have sysObjectId with at least  1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.3 or more.

When I restarted NPM it changed the Vendor back to Unknown.

Grrrr......

Did you stop the NetPerfMonService before making the change in the database?

What's the sysobjectid for that device?
