how to create a network atlas on mpls managed by ISPs using connectnow

Question

hi guys am trying to use the connect now feature on my MPLS network but it does not work, i have even tried to rediscover the specific MPLs subnets for * branches and rerun the connectnow but its giving me 0 devices .. i have even  made sure the topology info is checked on all devices but its not working..any help and ideology please

This is because MPLS isn't truly a layer 2 or layer 3 technology it happily rides in between both of them.  NPM doesn't know how to look at the MPLS routing tables, or the VRF table to see these connections properly, so connect now doesn't understand the connections except for the Physical connections coming from the ISP or P2P connections between routers that aren't in an MPLS VRF.

MPLS has been talked about in depth in other post on here and SW is looking at possibly adding support for routing protocols which would allow this to become a possiblity.

I would search for the Routing Protocols feature request and +1 on this and also give your feed back about what you would like NPM to be able to poll from these tables in your routers.

The link that is created, regardless of it being manual or through connect now is only setup to change based on the status of the connected objects in the link properties.  It is not a relational link in any way other than you can specify in the link properties which ports make the connection.  Then if one of those links reports an operational status of down, the link will change color.

thanks matthew i noticed but when i create the relationship manually does it mean the relationship will exit? since their are applications that are gotten from the HQ branch and when the server hosting those services goes down...expect to see all other braches..specific nodes going on timeout even when the network link still exists
