Solved.
SolarWinds Alerting Engine wasnt started.
anyone?
I've got a similar problem in that if I try to test an alert it gives me an error message, I've got a call open with support who are looking into the problem.
Jon
As a workaround you can test advanced alerts by using the Advanced Alert Manager. This application is located in advanced features under Solarwinds Orion. Do no test from NPM.
did that. no difference. emails are still not being sent.
I also tried the Test Fire Alerts with no luck.
Is there anything else I can try?
so the alert itself is not working but testing it works in that it shows that it fails? or the Testing of the Alert does not "test"?
Testing the Advance Alerts = nothing
Basic Alerts are working
Test Alerts from Basic Alerts are working.
You shouldn't be able to test Basic alerts in the Advanced Alert Mgr.
Is the adv. alert enabled? Are you getting an hour glass when testing your advanced alert in the Advanced Alerts Manager?
Mark, I'm getting an hour glass when trying to test fire alerts. Sounds like this Is this an known issue. Is there a workaround?

I've been told by SolarWinds support that it should be fixed for the version 8.5 beta.
