Monitoring a few stacks of Aruba S3500 switches. They show in NPM as wireless controllers. Appear to be missing the usual detailed data with switch topology, connected devices, etc. Where do I start to get these recognized as switches?
Go into Settings > Views by Device type. You should be able to see the device there, just change the view from Wireless Controller to default.
Thanks for your response. Looking at the Views by Device Type, it appears that making the change you suggest will in fact cause the switches to appear correctly. Unfortunately, I also have actual Aruba wireless controllers that would then not show up as wireless controllers, if I understand this setting correctly. Seems like SW needs to differentiate between Aruba switches and Aruba controllers somehow. I'll keep looking.
By the way, I'm relatively new to NPM, so it's entirely possible I'm overlooking something simple.
If it just shows as Aruba Networks, and it's all inclusive, then you're only going to be able to set for one or the other. What I'd recommend is to use the Tell Us your Unknown Device forum to request that in a future release SolarWinds uses the system object OID on the device to differentiate controllers from switches.
Thanks again for the info. I posted in the Unknown Device forum.
