In NPM 10.4 the Vitualization section recently includes a Hyper-V section.
Is there any information available on this? NPM don't automaticaly reconize my Hyper-V servers.
In order to see the Hyper-V information on a server, you have to add it to NPM using WMI and ICMP rather than SNMP and ICMP. The Hyper-V information is only available through WMI.

This doesnt seem to be working in our environment. When adding the server I added with ICMP and WMI and test was successful. Still Hyper-V is not detected on the machine.
Are the credentials you are using for WMI local admin to the Hyper-V server?
Yes the credentials are for local admin. But still it does not recognize the Hyper-V host.
Are you running Hyper V core or are you running 2008 with Hyper V?
We are running Windows 2012 Datacenter Edition with Hyper-V. !!

I have the same problem.
Switched to WMI just as solarwinds suggested and got tier one support on the line and fired up goto meeting and its still not working. This has been going on for over a month! I am running 2008 R2.
glad to see I am not alone in having these difficulties in getting npm to see my hyper-v nodes
why cant we just have a add node button in the hyper-v section to pull in the nodes we know need to be there.
After working with them for several days...I found the answer.
Set the polling method to Windows Servers: WMI and ICMP.....not SNMP hit "SUBMIT". On the resource page you will see a diaglog box for HYPER-V just select it
This should only be done for the HYPER-V it self not for any of the virtual servers. They will all be picked up after connection to the HYPER-V.
It all pretty simple...but its not well documented. 1st tier support was not very helpful. Since this is so new they didnt know how to set up either.
yeah i deleted the node and re-created it to make sure it was not hung on snmp.
selected wmi/icmp created new node and let it sit for a bit.
went into list resource page and selected the cpu/mem and the hard drives and had no other options.
i just dont understand why they couldnt put a add node button on the hyper-v section.
If the options aren't there, or it's still not recognized, make sure the user account you are using is part of the local administrators group on the server.
confirmed the admin group has the account added to it.
server is 2008 R2 running VMM2012
I would double check you are hitting the hyper-v and not one of its virtual...I checked everything you did...and found I was hitting the wrong IP.
after that you probable need to run Solar winds diagnostics, create a ticket and send it into one of the developers
you were on point there.
i feel kind of sheepish that i took someone elses word on the IP.
soon as i put in the right iP it had the check box under resources.
thanks for the help.
I am just glad to find I as not the only one!
Glad I could help!
After following the thread, I am still facing the same issue. I'm running Windows 2008 R2. Added the server to NPM using WMI and ICMP successfully but couldn't get the Hyper-V option on the Resource list. I'm new to Solarwinds can you please give me a guide. Thanks!
