View Limitation Issue

Question

We configured a custom view for Microsoft Servers and added a button to the menu bar.  In order to display only our servers, we used the "View Limitation" option and grouped by machine type.  When we click the "Servers" button everything is OK, but when we click on the button (Overview, Syslog, Events) the View Limitation appears to "stick".  Prior to the change, we could obtain an overview of all nodes and see all syslog messages.

Is there a way to prevent the view limitation from sticking across views or change the limitations on the other views (Overview, Syslog, etc)?

Note:  This happens with IE7 and Firefox 2.x

Don't know. I'm not sure SW views this as a "problem". I'm guessing that maybe the original intent was to only have one "summary" view per menu bar, though you can really add as many as you want. If there's only one summary view on a given user's menu bar, then naturally you would want the same filters to apply to the other views on that menu bar. With multiple summary views (each with their own filters), what criteria should be applied to the resource associated with the "syslog" menu bar item (last known filter, or no filter)? I haven't tried this, but I suppose you could create your own resources with the appropriate filters to match each summary view. (syslog and others), add them to the menu bar with different names, and see how that works..? Naturally, this makes your menu bar a bit busier.

This is a known issue, and I don't believe there's any way around it. If you have multiple summary views on your tool bar with varying associated view limitations, selecting other views like Events, Syslog, etc will result in the use of the limitation associated with the previously selected summary view.
