Trap Summary resource does not display Hostnames

Probably found another Trap bug here .

I'm evaluating NPM 9.5 and have added the Traps Summary resource to the Network Summary home page.

Where there are 4 display choices, IP Address, Hostname, Trap Type and Machine Type in the Edit options, selecting Hostname continues to diplay device IP Adresses instead.

Actually, it's not the real Hostname that I expect to see. While "Hostname" is the selection in the drop-down, it is the "node name" that should be there.

That's how it is in v9.1

Hi,

Are you able to resolve the IP address to its hostname from the Orion server?

Is the DNS server returning you its DNS name?

When the SNMP Trap service receives a Trap, it will try to resolve the source IP Address using the methods available (Hosts file, DNS query, LMHosts, NetBios query), if it does not succeed for any of them, it will keep showing the IP Address for the Hostname.
