Agent utilizing 500MB-2GB+ in memory

Question

I'm just curious how many people are experiencing agents that are taking up unreasonable amounts of memory, and what version you are on when you are experiencing this.

It seemed to get better after I upgraded to 2019.2 HF1. Lately I am either more aware of it, other engineers are bring it to my attention, or it seems to be getting worse, which would be weird. This screenshot was taken earlier today.

I opened a case and after two weeks I've gotten nowhere with support.

If you have/had this problem and upgraded to 2019.4 did it fix your problem?

Best to contact Tech Support so they can analyse a memory dump to find out why the agent is consuming that much RAM: SolarWinds Agent using 2-3+ GB RAM

Thanks for the reply Brian Scott​. The agent versions are 2.2.0.860. The worst offender has the agent state of "Reboot pending" but the other agents I have restarted recently with over a 1GB memory size have the normal "Agent is running" state.

Out of about 500 servers we restart about one to four a week. I first thought that this was due to AppInsight for IIS and disabled it on many machines. I'm not sure if that helped though as other agents without that template have this issue, and I have still seen the servers where the template was disabled reach above 500MB in size.

I am also on 2019.2.HF1, and that seemed to be the most stable agents so far.  Check to make sure the agent version is 2.2.0.860.  It should be if you have automatic update enabled.

Spot checking a few doesn't show anything near 2.6G, mine are around 73M to 88M.  I know some of this is the plugins it has installed, but I've checked agents that use appinsight for SQL and IIS which I would think to be some of the larger ones.

After you restart the service how long until the memory goes back up?
