Import of devices to an APE sat in another domain

Hi all ...

We are setting up distributed APEs so that we can manage, monitor etc all devices for clients in different doamins but form a single pane of glass - so to speak. All appears to be good and we can import nodes one at a time but if we select any more than one - so a network import, then SOLW only finds the IPs and doesn't SNMP read them.

Any thoughts? Firewall ports - if so which?

Hi Adam and thanks for the replies.

I should have said that we are using the right APE and initially I thought that was my issue.... however, it seems to be an issue with mass additions as I tried to edit 5 of them to go from ICMP to SNMP and it also failed. However, take any one of those 5 IPs and change it individually and it recognises it starightaway.

As you say, perhaps one for SOLW internal support but worth a shout here just in case.

You'll probably have to aim this question internally or to SLW support - It's definitely something that works in general.

SNMP ports are 161 and 162 unless one of your clients/domains has setup something weird.

Try using all IPs instead of hostnames if you havnt already, I wonder if there's some DNS-thing happening

You can telnet or SNMP walk from your APE to test in the same way as with the single-add-node-wizard-test-button

Hi Stuart,

When you are running the Network Discovery, make sure you select the appropriate Polling Engine from the first Tab (Network) as below:

This ensures the Sonar Discovery runs from the polling engine you select to avoid any Firewall issues.
